Incubazul adds 23 new startups with the third phase of the project

Today the welcome to the new initiatives was held in the Europa building of the fiscal premises, bringing a total of forty-six projects benefiting from the Cádiz Free Trade Zone Incubator

The acceleration program of Incubazul, the Blue Economy incubator developed by the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, 80% co-financed by the Feder Funds managed by the INCYDE Foundation, has welcomed the twenty-three new startups that have accessed incubation in the third call for recruitment. In turn, the 23 startups that were already housed in the Incubator met at the Incubazul Agora along with the mentor, organizer and technical team that makes up the Incubazul ecosystem.

The 23 initiatives have passed a pre-selection in accordance with the rules of the call, and a second screening, with the presentation of their projects before an evaluation committee made up of experts in entrepreneurship and circular economy. A total of 38 business initiatives were candidates to access this third phase. Those most related to the Blue Economy have entered the acceleration program, which focuses on the role of seas and oceans as an economic source and the importance of managing their resources efficiently, introducing technology and innovation that allow sustainable use in the future.

The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Fran González, has pointed out that there are very numerous business projects that have already accessed the Incubator of the Cádiz tax precinct, which acts as a powerful engine for the development of business ideas. On the other hand, he has highlighted the important commitment of the Free Zone to sustainability and the circular economy with Incubazul, "an already consolidated project that is turning Cádiz into the epicenter of the Blue Economy throughout Spain."

Finally, the person in charge of the Free Trade Zone added that, in this third phase of the program “the Incubazul Laboratory continues to be enhanced with the latest technology material and machinery, and to which a gas and particle filtering cabin has recently been added, “virtual reality glasses for project demonstration and new 3D printing machinery for higher precision modeling.”

The director of Feder Projects from the Incyde Foundation, Natalia Vázquez, also participated in the welcome event for the acceleration program, who intervened via streaming due to scheduling problems, and theHead of Operations at Open Future Telefónica, Patricia López-Fuchet, entity contracted to accelerate companies.

 Natalia Vázquez has pointed out that “this event is a new example of the success of the Network of High Technology Incubators that the INCYDE Foundation has launched throughout Spain, with the support and financing of the FEDER Funds. These new 23 companies join the more than 810 technology companies that we have already incubated in our Network, made up of 23 centers, and that we hope to reach 2,500 companies in the next 3 years with the launch of all the centers. I also want to highlight the success of the management of Incubazul by the ZF Consortium of Cádiz.”

From now on, the new startups will begin the incubation that will last for 4 months in which, with the added value of tutoring and mentoring - with a team of 18 mentors - they will lay the foundations and work on building their idea. business. The program involves natural or legal persons established in the EU with initiatives and projects of a technological and innovative nature and from a circular economy approach and commitment to the environment.

The 23 selected projects are: Agualytics, Bombus, Archangelus Naval, TMS Maritime Solutions, Gambariocultivo, Come Jugando, Gibraldone, Entresalinas, IMBS, Algaeca, Salineras de la Esperanza, 3RCOL, EggOn Technology, Fuller Innovation, Sea4teach, The Talent Sea, Noctiluca , Pescaoo, Power Sea Water, Salaria Productos, Seamind, Sentir la Bahía and Villana Project.

All of them represent technology-based concepts and services that can be applied in the multiple subsectors covered by the Blue Economy: from solutions for the efficient and sustainable management of the integral water cycle; the use of an invasive algae to create bioconstruction material through lightweight blocks for thermal insulation; the development of devices to improve safety in emergency situations at sea; passing through a business school specialized in maritime, port and logistics sectors; naval digitalization solutions for ship fleets, port authorities and shipyards; the enhancement of the salt tradition; the cultivation of shrimp for commercialization in aquariums; a platform that connects fishermen and fish and seafood producers with consumers; to the launch of a production company specialized in underwater matters.

With these twenty-three new startups from the Economía Azul technological incubator of the Zona Base Cádiz project, those incubated now total 46, as they join those incorporated in the two previous calls in April (8 startups) and October 2022 (15 startups).

The team of mentors and advisors that make up the ecosystem of the Zona Franca de Cádiz incubator, which has the support of Telefónica Open Future, will help the incubated projects with a personalized training and work plan to boost the business, offering support legal, marketing, branding, presentation of the idea, internationalization, search for financing avenues to guarantee the viability of the startup, access to own or third-party research infrastructure or provision of services that facilitate the day-to-day life of the startup, together with networking sessions, and conferences aimed at establishing contacts between the different interest groups associated with them.

The Incubazul High Technology Incubator is a project that has the support of the European Union, which co-finances it, through the INCYDE Foundation, 80% by the FEDER within the Pluriregional Operational Program 2014-2020 within axis 3: Improve the Competitiveness of SMEs, Thematic Objective 3 Improve the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, and investment priority 3 Promotion of entrepreneurship, in particular, facilitating the economic exploitation of new ideas, and promoting the creation of new companies, as well through nurseries.
