The Zona Franca of Cádiz will move the photographic exhibition “Zona Franca, when Cádiz grew by the sea” from the current location in the Plaza de la Catedral to the promenade of Cádiz, specifically on Avenida Amílcar Barca, in front of Calle Brasil, due to the interest shown by the public who have enjoyed the exhibition since its inauguration on July 15.
The exhibition, which will be in the new location from Monday and will remain open until August 15, has been organized to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the concession by the Ministry of Works of the time of the public domain lands for the establishment of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone.
The exhibition, which aims to open the Institution to the city and expand the knowledge that both Cadiz residents and visitors have about it, collects in 21 panels the most relevant episodes in the life of the Institution, which since its birth has been closely linked to the history of Cádiz in the last century, even changing the configuration of the city as it grew and expanded after the filling works on the land reclaimed from the sea that gave rise to the current Fiscal Precinct.
This interesting tour through the history of the Free Zone of Cádiz includes plans, more than 55 photographs – old and more current, from the archive of the Free Zone, the Port Authority of Cádiz and Diario de Cádiz –, curious drawings and clippings of press that make a temporal overview of the history of the Consortium from 1929 to the present.
The exhibition is organized by the Consortium in collaboration with the City Council and Diario de Cádiz, whose director, José Antonio Hidalgo, has acted as curator of the exhibition, demonstrating once again his extensive knowledge of the origins and evolution of the Institution. from Cádiz during her almost century of life.
