The new warehouse that is being built in the Cadiz tax area, next to the Ribera dock and that will house the company ATELDE, dedicated to the deposit and distribution of submarine cables, is already very advanced in its work, with the prefabricated concrete structure practically finished . The land on which it is being built was granted to the Cádiz Consortium by the Bahía de Cádiz Port Authority last December.
The delegate of the Free Trade Zone, Fran González, has supervised the status of the work accompanied by the head of the ATELDE company, Ramiro Cobo. Both have received explanations from the person in charge of carrying out the work and have verified that the structure of the ship is now finished.
The facility under construction will have a total constructed area of 3,175.95 m2 distributed over two floors and the activity is expected to begin operating in the last quarter of 2022. The privileged location of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone has been decisive in choosing to this location since the ship is being built 20 meters from the dock edge and the submarine cable and its associated equipment, such as repeaters and auxiliary elements, will be stored there. The equipment will be provided with a considerable height to facilitate the storage of the cable components and will have space around it to facilitate the maneuverability of heavy vehicles.
The submarine cable storage and distribution activity is in full development given the need to supply submarine fiber optic cables to current and future systems and that requires strategic locations such as the fiscal precinct that, due to its proximity to the sea, can distribute the merchandise both by land and by sea.
The company ATELDE will be in charge of managing the activity in the Cadiz tax area and is the result of the agreement reached by Pérez y Cia, a leading company in the maritime and logistics sectors, and Temasa Marine, an international company specialized in the submarine cable sector. .
