The strategic location of the Cadiz tax precinct has been decisive in choosing this location, which is located in a concession made by the APBC on the Ribera dock.
The company will occupy a warehouse that will be built in that area of the premises and the supply will be carried out by land and by sea through cable vessels.
This type of activity reaffirms the commitment of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone to a new industrial model around the blue economy and sustainability.

A new company, ATELDE, dedicated to the deposit and distribution of submarine cables, will be installed in the tax area of the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz in a warehouse on the land of the Ribera dock, which the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz (APBC) has concessioned to the Consortium and that will be built in the first weeks of 2022.
The submarine cable storage and distribution activity is in full development given the need to supply submarine fiber optic cables to current and future systems and that requires strategic locations such as the fiscal precinct that, due to its proximity to the sea, can distribute the merchandise both by land and by sea.
The facility, whose work will begin in February, will have a total constructed area of 3,175.95 m2 distributed over two floors and the activity is expected to begin operating in the last quarter of 2022 with a workforce that will fluctuate between the usual 3 permanent positions and the 15 in days of loading and unloading material. The total investment in execution of the works and machinery is 3.1 million euros.
The privileged location of the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz has been decisive in opting for this location since Spain in general is considered by large telecommunications companies as a fundamental alternative for connecting Europe-America and in the case of Cádiz its proximity to the African continent.
The ship to be built in the Free Trade Zone will be 20 meters from the dock edge and will store the submarine cable and its associated equipment, such as repeaters and auxiliary elements. The equipment will be given a considerable height to facilitate the storage of the cable components and will have space around it to facilitate the maneuverability of heavy vehicles.
The company ATELDE will be in charge of managing the activity in the Cadiz tax area and is the result of the agreement reached by Pérez y Cia, a leading company in the maritime and logistics sectors, and Temasa Marine, an international company specialized in the submarine cable sector.
The delegate of the Free Zone, Fran González, has expressed his gratitude to the company “for choosing the Free Zone of Cádiz and bringing to the city a new and important company that will surely create a very positive socio-productive activity. We have always said that one of our strengths is our magnificent strategic location, natural connection with Africa and America and in this case it has been decisive."
Fran González added that this type of activity “reaffirms the commitment of Zona Franca de Cádiz with a new industrial model based on sustainability parameters and linked to marine activity, in the new scenario that we are developing with projects linked to the blue economy.” .
The new facility will also be built following sustainability criteria in line with this new model of responsible industry committed to the environment that the Cádiz Free Trade Zone is developing in all its equipment and infrastructure.
The president of the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz, Teófila Martínez, for her part, has highlighted the role of the port in this type of three-way agreements to enable the implementation of projects like this one, given that it is developed in an area of port public domain, as well as the added and strategic value that the Free Trade Zone represents for the port and vice versa and which are evident in investments like this.
