The State delegate in the Tenerife Free Zone, Margarita Pena, and the president of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and president of the Tenerife Free Zone Consortium, Carlos González, accompanied by the State delegate in the Free Zone from Cádiz, Fran González, today visited the facilities of the Cádiz fiscal precinct and held a meeting with the president of the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz, Teófila Martínez, on her second day of visiting the province.

Margarita Pena and Carlos González are taking advantage of their stay in the province to learn about the logistics and port activity and the facilities and equipment of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone, including the Bahía de Algeciras Tax Precinct, which is in full development and which they visited yesterday. , in addition to the port of Algeciras and the free warehouse managed there by the Consortium together with the company Bernardino Abad.

During the visit to the fiscal premises of Cádiz, Margarita Pena and Carlos González were able to attend a presentation of the Institution, what it represents for the citizens of Cádiz, its history, activity and equipment. Afterwards, they took a tour of the premises and learned about the activity of the Free Zone Documentary Services (SDA), a business unit dedicated to providing custody, digitization, archiving and destruction of the documentation of different companies and official organizations.

During the visit, Fran González indicated that he considers collaboration and joint work with other free zones essential and emphasized that “the seven Spanish free zones are complementary. It is important that we share our industrial models and be able to use each other as models and references.”

In this sense, Fran González explained that he is convinced that “coordination between the seven Spanish free zones, each with its characteristics and strengths, is essential to create synergies and thus favor the productive fabric closest to each one. Furthermore, with the Free Zone of Tenerife and also that of Gran Canaria we are united by the natural Atlantic alliance, the strategic location as spaces of opportunity for internationalization to the markets of Latin America and Africa”

The delegate of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone has also highlighted “the importance of the alliance with the ports as an added value to the activity of the fiscal precincts, a close collaboration that results in greater competitive capacity around logistics and trade operations. abroad, topics that we are already discussing in meetings with all the free zones in Spain and that we delve into in this type of meetings.”

González has also shown the Tenerife delegation the commitment that the Free Trade Zone is promoting “around a more sustainable industrial model that is committed to the environment, betting on the implementation of renewable energies and energy transition projects in our fiscal area that are in accordance with the plan of the Government of Spain and the SDGs”

Both Margarita Pena and Carlos González have conveyed to the delegate Fran González their gratitude for these two fruitful days in the province of Cádiz and have shown him their satisfaction for the potential detected in the province and the great opportunity that Cádiz companies have to have two fiscal precincts.

For Pena, “the visit to the province of Cádiz with the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz could not be more productive. Visit to the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz

Prior to the visit to the customs fiscal facility, the Canarian delegation, accompanied by the Cádiz delegate, Fran González, visited the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz, where they were received by its president, Teófila Martínez, who held a meeting with her namesake of Tenerife and with the Free Trade Zone delegate in which they exchanged experiences and analyzed possible lines of collaboration and joint work. The relationship between the ports of Cádiz and the islands is centuries old and has strengthened in recent months since Boluda put into operation the daily maritime line between Cádiz and the Canary Islands just a year ago.

In this sense, its president, Teófila Martínez, recalled that maritime trade between Cádiz and the Canary Islands dates back more than a century thanks to shipping companies such as Compañía Trasmediterránea, which practically since its founding in 1917 has maintained this connection between both strategic destinations. . Others, such as OPDR, also connected the peninsula with the Islands through the Port of Cádiz and more recently Boluda has opted for this maritime highway, all of which demonstrate the strategic importance of this connection.

For the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, both the ports of Cádiz and Algeciras are two great allies, together with other socioeconomic agents in the province, to go hand in hand in a projection and joint work of the province's potential to attract companies and investments. , favoring the internationalization of our productive fabric and expanding foreign markets for companies with tax and customs advantages inherent to a tax area.
