Zona Franca puts out to tender the adaptation works of the building that will house the Maritime Group of the Strait and the future Center for Improvement of the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard

The Consortium is streamlining the procedure as much as possible since the tender has been published only one day after the signing of the lease contract for the facilities.

The works have a base budget of 419,761.14 euros (VAT included) and the execution period is 4 months

The deadline for submitting offers ends at 3:00 p.m. on January 10, 2022

The Cádiz Free Trade Zone has already put out to tender the adaptation works of the so-called cross building, located in the area of the old Altadis of the Cádiz Tax Precinct and which will house the future Center for Improvement of the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard and the Maritime Group of the Strait.

After the publication of the announcement last Wednesday, the Consortium thus manages to speed up all the deadlines since this announcement of the opening of the public procedure to contract the work occurs just one day after the signing of the lease contract for the facilities, ratified last Tuesday, November 30, by the State delegate in the Free Zone, Fran González, and the head of the Civil Guard Command of Cádiz, Colonel Jesús Núñez, at the Headquarters of the Consortium.

The adaptation works have a budget of 419,761.14 (VAT included) and the execution period of the work is 4 months, so it is expected that the facilities will be commissioned for next June, taking into account the deadlines for processing the entire procedure and that the presentation of offers ends at 3:00 p.m. on January 10.

Specifically, the adaptation will consist of a general overhaul of the building after years of disuse, without modifications to the current distribution, actions such as recovery of waterproofing, improvements in access to the building, replacement of carpentry and blinds, painting, air conditioning, electrical installation and fire protection, among others. In terms of security, among other measures, video surveillance cameras will be installed indoors and outdoors, reinforcement of signage and delimitation of the building's security area.

It should be noted that the work will be carried out in a property that has a total constructed area of 2,517 m2, spread over three floors, of which the ground floor has 517 m2, and the first and second, 1,000 each. In addition, the contract includes the lease of an adjacent area with 38 parking spaces.

The total investment in the building adaptation works and the necessary security system both in the building and in the surrounding area is around half a million euros, specifically 434,500.04 euros, and the initial duration of the lease contract is 10 years.

Excellent news for Cádiz

With the tender for the works and the signing of the lease contract this week, months of work and collaboration between representatives of the Civil Guard and the Cádiz Consortium culminate, who have maintained fluid contact to shape the project and be able to respond with the facilities of the Fiscal Precinct to the needs of the Corps. Thus, the schedule of actions necessary to adapt the facilities to the services has been analyzed in detail, both in terms of adaptation works and security.

Finally, the option of the cross building – one of the administrative facilities occupied by the Altadis tobacco company – has allowed the future Maritime Service Improvement Center of the Civil Guard and the Strait Maritime Group to be brought together in the same location.

Its location, very close to the port area of the Ribera dock within the perimeter of the fiscal precinct, means that it has been perfectly adjusted to the needs required by the Civil Guard for both organizations. Furthermore, in the coming months this location will have the added value of a new access to the former Altadis area that the Free Trade Zone has already put out to tender and which will allow more permeability between both areas.
