The Consortium awards the work to the company Construcciones Garrucho S.A. for an amount of 153,737.32 euros (VAT included) and an execution period of two months
The works will focus on Council of Europe Avenue, the main entrance and exit route that has been deteriorated by years of heavy vehicle traffic.
With this new action, the Consortium advances in the development of the Improvement Plan for its facilities to make the venue a more competitive and sustainable enclave that provides better service to operators and attracts new investments.
The actions are being undertaken in phases and have a global investment of more than 1.5 million euros
The Cádiz Free Trade Zone is advancing in the development of the comprehensive Improvement Plan for its Cádiz Tax Precinct. Thus, this week the Consortium has awarded the company Construcciones Garrucho S.A. the necessary works for the resurfacing of Council of Europe Avenue and adjacent areas of the venue whose pavement requires renovation due to years of exposure to heavy traffic, as it is the main artery of entry and exit to the venue.
The works have an investment of 153,757.32 euros (VAT included) and an execution period of two months. The tender, opened in mid-August and to which two companies opted, has included assessment criteria on environmental waste management; quality control of the work; and occupational health and safety plan, among others.
With the start of the resurfacing works, the Consortium addresses a new phase of the aforementioned Modernization Plan for the facilities and services of the Tax Precinct that began last spring, with a global budget of more than 1.5 million euros (VAT included) and with the aim of making this logistics space a competitive enclave that offers a better service to current operators and, at the same time, favors the arrival of new investments.
Along these lines, it should be noted that improvements have already been carried out in the hydraulic infrastructure and two phases of improving the electrical infrastructure have already been undertaken, actions that were included in the collaboration protocol signed with the Cádiz City Council and that included actions with Aguas de Cádiz and Eléctrica de Cádiz, respectively. Specifically, in the case of electrical improvements, it must be remembered that the old Altadis is an area of special action because, when it was acquired in 2015 to expand the tax area, this space was conceived as a single electrical supply and, therefore, the development of infrastructures that allow individual supplies to each of the facilities and services had to begin.
Furthermore, within the Improvement Plan, the cleaning of difficult-to-access areas and the painting of numerous equipment and signage have also been carried out, as well as some spaces have already been optimized that have allowed new parking spaces to be generated on the premises, offering improvements to companies and customers.
As mentioned with the electrical improvements, Altadis is one of the spaces that concentrates the greatest investment within the Improvement Plan, foreseeing the fine-tuning of some of its buildings such as the cross building and the updating of the video surveillance system, the project of which is already being carried out. This new system will be equipped with the latest advances in this matter and will be integrated and connected to the entire facility. In fact, this project draws on the experience acquired for the launch of the new Bahía de Algeciras tax facility, whose surveillance system has been worked on in coordination with the Civil Guard and Customs and incorporates the latest technological advances to customs work. In this area, the Consortium has already installed an exit barrier at the main Civil Guard control, which was not available and which facilitates the security work typical of a tax facility.
Finally, the works have already been put out to tender for the total integration of the Altadis area with the rest of the historic tax area, works that include the creation of a new access to this space through the entrance and exit area through Elcano, eliminating the current existing gap that makes permeability between both areas impossible.
This action will improve the connections inside the venue and will make the offer of spaces at Altadis more competitive by allowing the direct entry and exit of vehicles and pedestrians.
Outside the Altadis area, one of the most innovative works contemplated in the Improvement Plan is the installation of an electric station in front of the plaza of the Melkart and Heracles buildings. Work has already begun, which includes four points for recharging the batteries of electric vehicles that will provide coverage to the installed companies, their staff, clients and users of the premises, who will be given a new service with added value, more responsible and respectful of the environment, in line with the new impulse that the Free Zone is giving towards a more sustainable and green industry, within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). of the Government's 2030 Agenda. In this sense, it must be remembered that the Consortium is also renewing its fleet of vehicles with efficient and non-polluting models.
