The free zones of Spain support the candidacy of Cádiz to the X International Congress of the Spanish Language in 2025

The delegate of Cádiz, Fran González, has participated in a meeting with the rest of those responsible for these entities at the Ministry of Finance where he explained the reasons why Cádiz aspires to host this international meeting

During the meeting, common strategic lines and elements of daily work and sharing of computer systems were addressed to improve the efficiency of the customs field.

The seven free zones of Spain have signed the document of adhesion to the candidacy of Cádiz as the venue for the 10th International Language Congress, which is to be held in 2025. The explicit support of the seven entities for this proposal has been carried out within a coordination meeting of the Spanish free zones, which was held yesterday and today at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance, chaired by the Undersecretary of Finance of the Government of Spain, Pilar Paneque.

This is the first time that Fran González has attended a work and coordination meeting of this type since his appointment a year ago and the recently appointed delegates in the Tenerife Free Trade Zone, Margarita Pena Machín, and in Santander, have also been present. Francisco Fernández Mañanes, in addition to the already veterans of Barcelona, ​​Pere Navarro; from Vigo, David Regades; and from Gran Canaria, Gabriel Corujo.

During this meeting, Fran González was able to explain to those present the benefits of Cádiz's candidacy to host this congress, a proposal that they welcomed, signing the document of adhesion to it. This request is part of the commitment made by the Cádiz Consortium with the Cádiz City Council to contribute to actions that gather support for Cádiz to host this important event within four years.

In addition to this point, today's meeting has served to share and strengthen the lines of joint work and coordinate actions, as well as for each person in charge to present their work strategy, the measures developed in the current scenario after the pandemic, the plans for the immediate future and projects in development.

Fran González has explained that his management strategy, among other milestones, includes an important boost to activity linked to foreign trade with actions to support the internationalization of companies and the exploration of new foreign markets.

In this strategy, the Bahía de Algeciras Fiscal Precinct will be of fundamental importance, which will soon come into operation in the Campo de Gibraltar and will respond to the need of large international trade operators in their activity around the large port of Algeciras, with the savings of costs involved in having customs and tax advantages for activities linked to internationalization.

The delegate of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone highlighted during the work meeting that we must take advantage of the potential and location of the province of Cádiz to undertake foreign actions in markets such as neighboring Africa, one of the great opportunities for foreign trade, surpassing the American markets, which are more exploited and saturated, to the point that it may become the next great success story in the developing world.

The group of the seven free zones has reiterated its willingness to carry out joint international commercial actions at international fairs and congresses with the aim of promoting the brand of Free Zones of Spain for which they will establish lines of collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and with the ICEX .

It should be noted that more than 90 public and private institutions worldwide already support the candidacy of Cádiz as the venue for this congress. In fact, the last accession was five days ago by the Organization of Ibero-American States (OIA).

The last coordination meeting of the delegates of the Spanish free zones and the Undersecretary of the Treasury was held in Vigo at the end of 2019, shortly before the confinement due to Covid-19, and there was substantial progress in the participation of the free zones in the European Ports 4.0 project, in addition to the commitment of attendees to develop policies in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, in accordance with the new sustainable industrial model being developed by the Free Zone of Cadiz.

The first meeting of delegates of the current Government was held in Cádiz in March 2019, coinciding with the events celebrating the 90th anniversary in the Cadiz capital and in which all the representatives of the tax precincts met.
