The Civil Guard has already been carrying out these tasks in the fiscal precinct of Cádiz since 2002

The Governing Body of the Consortium also gave the green light to the award of the adaptation work and to the Public Offer for the commercialization of the plots, which has already been launched.

The new tax facility will be a milestone in the integration of new technologies applied to surveillance and access control systems, parameters on which work has been done in coordination with the Customs Demarcation

The Executive Committee of the Cádiz Free Zone approved in its last meeting the agreement by which the Civil Guard will be in charge of carrying out surveillance, security and control tasks in the Bahía de Algeciras Tax Precinct and which includes the details that both parties have defined so that this service is offered with the best guarantees.

Through this agreement, the Cádiz Free Trade Zone and the Civil Guard maintain the close collaboration that they already began in 2002 in the Cádiz Tax Precinct, when members of the Corps began to carry out surveillance tasks throughout the Cádiz fiscal perimeter, where They also have their own stall in one of the central streets.

The new Bay of Algeciras Tax Precinct requires a qualified surveillance service, which will be completed with a sophisticated and complete technological surveillance system to support the Civil Guard, a telematic system for controlling and tracking goods that will favor the work of both this Security Corps as well as the Customs technicians.

To carry out surveillance and security tasks, the Civil Guard will have a space for official vehicles, offices for video surveillance cameras and rooms for staff, among others.

It should be noted that as it is the last tax precinct approved in Spain, its design was carried out jointly between the Cadiz Free Trade Zone and the Customs Demarcation, which gave the indications for fencing and enclosure and which are included in the adaptation works project. whose award to the Carmin-Elecnor joint venture was also approved by the Executive Committee. In addition, new communication technologies have been integrated into customs work, forming a project that represents a milestone in the concept of surveillance and supervision.

The Free Trade Zone is intensifying the procedures and work necessary for the implementation of the Bahía de Algeciras Tax Precinct. In this context, the Governing bodies of the Consortium also gave the green light in their last meetings, in addition to the agreement with the Civil Guard, to several milestones of importance for its development: the awarding of the work, the approval of the Internal Regime Regulation and the authorization for the publication of the Public Offer with the bases for the commercialization of the spaces, which is already launched and published on the Consortium website.

At the same time, the work to adapt this 130,000 m2 fiscal space, awarded in April, will be carried out by the Carmin-Elecnor joint venture, with a budget that amounts to 2,443,497.74 euros and a completion period of 8 months. The works will consist, among others, of the replacement and expansion of the current perimeter fence (2,132 linear meters) and the creation of a surveillance patrol, of the same length of the fence, which includes the surveillance control system, thermal cameras , lighting and other security measures.

In addition, the Plenary Session of the Consortium took another step by approving the Internal Regime Regulation, regulations authorized by the Department of Customs and Special Taxes of the State Tax Administration Agency and published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on January 3, 2020 and necessary for the implementation of the fiscal space.

Another important milestone is the approval of the Public Offer that governs the commercialization of spaces in the fiscal area. This offer is intended for economic operators engaged in activities linked to international trade and beneficiaries, therefore, of customs and tax advantages. To allocate the three available plots, the Free Trade Zone will take into account criteria such as investment, job creation and solidity of the project, among others.

With the launch of the Bahía de Algeciras Tax Precinct, the Cádiz Free Trade Zone responds to a repeated demand from companies in the region that required this valuable tool to, sharing synergies with the port of Algeciras and large industries, convert all the area into a first-class logistics, industrial and export focus.
