Free Trade Zone will have an electric station in the tax precinct of Cádiz

One of the charging points for electric vehicles will be for public use and will be located in front of the Melkart building while the other two will provide coverage to the Consortium, which is in the process of renewing 75% of its automotive fleet with 100% electric vehicles.

This measure is part of the firm commitment of the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz to implement in the city a self-sufficient industrial zone committed to a sustainable future and the reduction of environmental pollution.

The Cádiz Free Trade Zone is advancing in its commitment to the progressive implementation of green energy in its facilities and will have an electric station in the tax area. The Consortium has contracted the installation of three points to recharge the batteries of electric vehicles with two outlets in each, so they will be able to provide simultaneous service to six vehicles in total.

The Consortium has awarded this new sustainable infrastructure to the company Moneleg and has an investment of 13,477 euros (VAT not included) and an estimated execution period of two months. The work includes all the necessary material, civil works, project and technical management, inspection by the control body and certification.

Specifically, one of the charging points – exterior and pedestal type – will be for public use and will be located in the loading and unloading area in front of the Melkart building, being able to provide coverage to the installed companies, clients and their staff, who will be given a service with high added value, more responsible and respectful of the environment and that will contribute to reducing environmental pollution. In addition, it promotes the competitiveness of companies and the self-employed through fuel savings.

The other two charging points are aimed at covering the internal demand of the Consortium's automotive fleet and its personnel. Thus, one will be installed in the rear parking lot of the Headquarters building and another in the workshops.

Towards sustainable mobility

These two charging facilities for internal use are necessary and justified since, in parallel to their implementation, the Cádiz Free Zone is renewing its fleet of vehicles within the “Plan to Promote the value chain of the automotive industry” presented this summer by the Government of Spain within the 2030 Agenda and which aims to promote safe and sustainable mobility in a context of changes associated with decarbonization. the ecological transition and digital transformation.

Thus, the Consortium is going to replace a workshop van, two vehicles currently used by the Civil Guard that offers surveillance services on the premises, and a motorcycle with 100% electric vehicles. In total, 75% of the fleet will be renewed following the parameters of the aforementioned plan within a section developed by the Ministry of Finance and that promotes the renewal of official vehicles of the State Administration that are more than ten years old - most of them diesel - with ecological vehicles, always with the aim of accelerating the reduction of emissions from the Spanish vehicle fleet and facilitating the replacement of vehicles. pollutants with cleaner and more efficient ones.

With this new step taken by the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz to work towards the implementation of a self-sufficient industrial zone committed to the future in the city, the Consortium is laying the foundations of its firm commitment to leading the transformation towards a new economic model based on the circular economy and the commitment to renewable energies, from a more sustainable, responsible and committed perspective to the future and that in turn generates new business opportunities for the future generations in an area like Cádiz with enormous potential due to its natural resources and the talent of its productive fabric.
