The delegate of the Free Zone has been able to learn about the port activity and the potential synergies with the Bahía de Algeciras tax precinct during a day sponsored by the APBA
The alliance between the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz and the Port Authority of Algeciras and the strategic enclave of both venues represents a leap in the development of both, offering complementary services for operators
The port community has been able to analyze the virtues of the project and make contributions to improve the Marketing Plan of the space
The Cádiz Free Trade Zone is intensifying actions aimed at marketing the Bahía de Algeciras tax area, in Los Barrios, and for this purpose, this morning the delegate, Fran González, has carried out a new work day in Campo de Gibraltar, organized jointly with the Bahía de Algeciras Port Authority, where he was able to learn about the port activity in the first port in Spain, as well as its potential. and development with a view to establishing synergies with the Bahía de Algeciras tax area.
The strategic location of the new facility represents an ally for the Port of Algeciras, so that new quality services can be offered, with a facility with tax and customs improvements, which are attractive for current operators. In the same way, the tax precinct will have more reason to exist in terms of its connection with the port of Algeciras and its strategic location.
In this way, what was repeatedly announced by the delegate of involving all the socioeconomic agents of the region in the elaboration of the plan that is designed to market the site is put into practice, presenting the entity as an instrument at the service of the territory, in harmony with all its actors and that responds to the true needs of the economic fabric of the area.
The visit to the port has included a tour of the facilities of the TTI Algeciras container terminal, in order to feel and understand in depth the work of the semi-automatic terminal and the port processes so that one could know how to apply it to the tax area.
The work day at the APBA concluded with a meeting with the port community, who shared the needs of the sector and the strategies to be undertaken for better marketing. Present at today's working table were the Campo de Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce, AESBA (Association of Service Companies of the Bay of Algeciras), ATEIA (Association of Freight Forwarders of the Bay of Algeciras), APEMAR (Maritime Agencies of the Province of Cádiz) and the two container terminals of the port of Algeciras, APM Terminals and TTI Algeciras, which have moved their contributions for the Marketing Plan of the Bahía de Algeciras tax area.
Fran González defends the need to involve the port and the industries and associations of the region to structure the project of the fiscal complex and the province and having as one of the objectives that the companies that settle in provide technology, innovation and differentiating elements that, in turn, connect with the international market, to which the Port of Algeciras has access due to its great connectivity.
One of the great attractions of the Bahía de Algeciras tax precinct for companies that settle there are the customs and tax advantages inherent to the status of tax precinct and which represents significant cost savings for those firms linked to foreign trade activity.
The Bahía de Algeciras tax precinct is a project that was given a definitive boost by the Government of Spain when it was included as a strategic enclave in the Comprehensive Plan for the Campo-Gibraltar region that in November 2018, in the Ministry of Finance section, mentioned “the creation of a free zone of 130,000 m2 in Los Barrios." Less than a year later, on October 1, 2019, the Ministry of Finance authorized the ministerial order for the implementation of the facility, an announcement that was presented by the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, to a broad representation of the socioeconomic fabric of the region.
