He held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Arancha González Laya, to whom he conveyed the priority nature of the region for the tax institution.
The day also included an institutional meeting with the mayor of Los Barrios, a visit to the head of the Customs Department and a tour of the facilities of the Algeciras Free Warehouse and the Nexus building.
The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Fran González, has started today a day of work in the Campo de Gibraltar that will be completed next week, with the underlying commitment to advance the projects that the tax institution has in the area as one of the priority development focuses of the province.
The visit included several meetings to learn first-hand about the different actions and equipment that the Consortium develops in the area. It should be noted that during the morning, the delegate was able to hold a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Arancha González Laya, -visiting Campo de Gibraltar- in which he conveyed the commitment of the Free Zone to favor the competitive capacity of the area with projects such as the new Bahía de Algeciras tax facility, which is also included in the Comprehensive plan of the Spanish Government for the Campo de Gibraltar.
Along the same lines, the person in charge of the Free Trade Zone has visited the Los Barrios City Council, where he coincided with the mayor, Miguel Alconchel, in opening a stage of collaboration and understanding to advance the implementation of the tax facility located in Fresno, which represents a milestone for the municipality and the entire region, and which responds to the needs of the regional industrial fabric.
Subsequently, and also with the progress in the development of the tax area as a priority, Fran González has traveled to the Customs and Special Taxes Unit of Algeciras to meet with the administrator of said Unit, Nuria Carracedo, with whom they have been working jointly on the design of the tax area with the aim of integrating new communication technologies into customs work, which is forming a project that represents a milestone in the concept of surveillance and supervision at the national level.
Today's day in Campo de Gibraltar has also included a visit to the Nexus building, in Algeciras, which stands out among all the Free Trade Zone business centers in the province for having excellent occupancy levels. There, the delegate has seen first-hand the work of some of the companies located such as KALMAR, which is made up of load handling equipment, automation, software and services; and the Office of Asset Recovery and Management (ORGA), among others.
Finally, the first visit to Campo de Gibraltar concluded with a tour of the facilities of the Algeciras Free Warehouse, located at the Isla Verde Dock, managed by DALSE, which also includes the Bernardino Abad Logistics Group. The Warehouse is another important exponent of the Free Trade Zone's commitment to the zone, since its facilities form an exempt customs area that allows for both community and non-community merchandise, to which neither the tariffs nor the taxation of the community country is applied.
The State delegate is scheduled to resume the agenda next week in Campo de Gibraltar to continue the round of institutional visits.
