The Free Zone has taken a new step in the project of the fiscal enclosure "Bay of Algeciras" that will manage in the neighborhoods, in the area of El Fresno. Specifically, the agency under the Ministry of Finance has asked the Barreño City Council for the corresponding work license to initiate the perimeter fence, after these months have been carried out the necessary procedures to obtain such permission.
This fence is one of the requirements required to have the consideration of a fiscal enclosure and will have special security conditions: it must be fully defined, delimited, and established a surveillance round on the inner face of the fence, designed to give a quick response in case of attempt to violate the perimeter.
In addition, the risk areas (remote areas, railway, rear ships) will be determined to set chord safety measures. For this, three concrete measures are proposed: movement control in the fence, video surveillance cameras throughout the perimeter, perimeter lighting.
Also, to start working with all Free Zone benefits, these works will be completed with others such as access control, Special Safety Conditions 24 hours, etc. To do this, the delegate of Zona Franca, Victoria Rodríguez, met a few weeks ago with the Civil Guard of Algeciras to define aspects of the agreement that will regulate the surveillance and protection of the enclosure.
One of the topics discussed was the proposal to create a Civil Guard unit composed of personnel in reserve, similar to that currently exists in Cádiz, to take charge of the security of the new fiscal enclosure "Bay of Algeciras."
From the consortium, the procedures to develop the public offer that allows interested companies to present their offers and access these spaces, mainly intended for those potential clients who have an activity related to foreign trade operations, given the proximity of this space to the port of Algeciras, which means implementing in an important logistics focus.
It is important to note that the companies that operate in the fiscal enclosure "Bay of Algeciras" will benefit, depending on the activity they carry out, of the customs and tax advantages of a free zone, which will mean a saving of costs and a plus of competitiveness to its activity.
It should be remembered that the Ministry of Finance authorized on October 1 the implementation of this fiscal space, on a plot of 200,000 m2 gross and a useful area of 130,000 m2 with the publication of the corresponding ministerial order in the Official State Gazette.
The Free Zone of Cádiz has thus become the only one of the seven Spanish free zones that manages two fiscal enclosures in different municipalities.
The publication of this order culminated an intense and complex process of processing, based on the decision of the Free Zone of Cádiz, as an instrument for the promotion of the economic activity of the province, to respond to a historical need made manifesting by businessmen and business associations of the region - logistics operators, large industries, small and medium -sized companies - that demand Operations around the port of Algeciras.
