The Free Trade Zone of Cádiz has awarded the execution of the cleanup and conservation work of the plot where the Base Zone will be located, the project that the Consortium is developing on the old Ibérica Aga plot, in the outer industrial estate, and which will convert that space into a center of innovation and technological expansion. Gyocivil will be the company in charge of the action within a period of four months and for an amount of 370,399.88 euros.
This has been ratified by the executive committee meeting yesterday morning and which has given the green light to the proposal of the Consortium's contracting table after the assessment of the three companies that submitted to the tender, whose deadline ended on March 12.
The work, which will begin in the coming weeks, will affect a total area of 10,049 m2 and includes the installation of all the necessary infrastructure - pipes, electricity, telecommunications, etc. - to create the Base Zone productive space where the maritime containers that host innovative and technological companies are located and which will turn the place into a center of innovation and technological expansion.
The aim was to give maximum agility to the Base Zone project and in parallel with the bidding for the work, the pre-marketing work has begun, which has included the installation of a pilot container in the Melkart plaza of the tax precinct and which recreates what is a typical office of those that will be installed on the ground of the outer precinct.
Visits to this facility have already begun and include questionnaires to survey the opinions of interested parties who, after the visit, can leave written suggestions and comments. This pre-marketing serves to contact businessmen in the sector, who know the project and to be able to detect the demands and interests for this space. Thus, the final project will adapt to your real needs.
Base Zone will also be the first link in the recovery of the outer polygon of the Free Zone that the State delegate has taken as a priority and will serve as a pilot experience for the rest of the polygon and a reference for innovation and development.
The work also includes the repair of the protected building, an international style building built in 1968 with a surface area of 1,225 m2 and included in the Catalog of Architectural Heritage of the PGOU of Cádiz, and which is very deteriorated with graffiti and signs of vandalism. The building will be cleaned externally to restore the uniqueness of its concrete and wood elements, recovering the external state of its facades, as well as the general structure of the building.
