This initiative for 3D printing business projects is promoted by the Barcelona Free Zone and the Leitat Foundation and has the support of the INCYDE Foundation of the Chambers of Commerce
The opening ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Pedro Duque
The State delegate in the Cádiz Free Zone, Victoria Rodríguez, attended yesterday in Barcelona the launch of the first incubator for 3D printing business projects in Europe, called 3D Factory Incubator, led by the Barcelona Free Zone Consortium and the Leitat foundation and with the support of European funds from the INCYDE Foundation of the Chambers of Commerce. The event was attended by the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Pedro Duque.
The new technological space has involved an investment of three million euros and occupies about 600 m2 in the same building where the Consorci's corporate headquarters is located.
During the visit, Rodríguez congratulated the management of the Consorci for placing the Spanish free zones as a reference for modernity and innovation and took the opportunity to establish contacts and study cooperation channels with the participating entities, with the aim of adding knowledge and learning from the experience already carried out to be able to apply it to the project planned in Ibérica AGA, where a reference space for the technology sector will be created through offices in maritime containers and common areas.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, the special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, the president of the Leitat Foundation, Jordi W. Carnes, and the president of the Incyde Foundation, José Luis Bonet, in addition to the delegate of the Vigo Free Trade Zone, David Regades, with whom the delegate Victoria Rodríguez was able to exchange ideas and projects of the actions carried out by both during these months at the head of the respective consortia.
The 3D incubator will be a meeting point between small, highly technological companies, but also with large firms. It is prepared to incubate more than 100 companies in five years: start-ups, SMEs and micro companies that will be selected, year after year, around the world and that, in this space, will be able to have access to state-of-the-art industrial printers with six different technologies; to mini printers and also to post-processing, design or metrology areas. It will also offer business consulting, parts certification or marketing activities. All incubated companies will be able to be in this space for one year.
Those that begin their activity this week registered in the call opened by the Consorci and which ended on October 31. Of the 34 companies chosen, there are seven international and 27 from Spain. A total of 13 cases will be incubated virtually: they will access the incubator services without having to carry out their activity in the facilities.
