The executive committee of the Free Trade Zone today gave the green light to the tender for works on the plot of the former Ibérica Aga, where the Consortium will create a different economic space aimed at innovation companies, which will completely change the appearance of this area of the city and will serve as an example and pilot experience for the rest of the exterior industrial estate.
Since taking office seven months ago, the delegate of the Free Trade Zone, Victoria Rodríguez, has made the remodeling of the exterior industrial park a priority and this will be an important step that is intended to be carried out as quickly as possible. In fact, the construction license was requested from the City Council on January 8 in order to expedite the procedures and in the Free Trade Zone it is expected that the City Council will approve the license as soon as possible.
The action, which has a budget of 519,361.02 euros (VAT not included) and an execution period of 4 months, will affect the Ibérica Aga plot, with a total area of 10,049 m2. This space will also be the first link in the recovery of the outer industrial estate of the Free Zone that the State delegate has taken as a priority, it will serve as a pilot experience for the rest of the industrial estate and a reference for innovation and development.
The work authorized today includes the repair of the protected building, an international style building built in 1968 with a surface area of 1,225 m2 and included in the Catalog of Architectural Heritage of the PGOU of Cádiz, and which is very deteriorated with graffiti and signs of vandalism. The building will be cleaned externally to restore the uniqueness of its concrete and wood elements, recovering the external state of its facades, as well as the general structure of the building.
This first phase of the action will be completed with a general cleanup, demolition of the existing fence and placement of a new fence on the boundaries. The plot will also be provided with a motorized sliding gate as a new access and the current sidewalk will be eliminated, building another one slightly set back on Gibraltar Street.
