The State delegate, Victoria Rodríguez, wants to reestablish with the Consistory and other administrations “more than broken bridges, a great communications network”
Last Monday, Rodríguez already formally contacted the mayor of the city to begin institutional contacts, based on the joint desire to reverse the situation of the Free Zone projects in the city.
Rodríguez calls on the City Council to make decisions about planning that facilitate the work of the Free Zone and private owners, such as dividing the execution units of the General Plan into smaller ones.
“My management will be characterized by institutional dialogue and I am open to establishing a joint and global strategy with the city council.” With these words, the recently appointed State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Victoria Rodríguez, makes clear what her line of action is in response to the message launched yesterday by the first deputy mayor and Councilor for Urban Planning, Martín Vila, to reactivate the reform of the outdoor area but she hopes that it is a real desire for collaboration because this project is a great challenge and a great opportunity and the people of Cádiz deserve that the institutions coordinate and be up to the task.
Rodríguez already took the initiative last Monday by requesting a first institutional meeting with the mayor of the city and president of the Plenary of the Consortium, José María González, with the desire to reverse the current situation, analyzing the situation of the projects that Zona Franca has in the city and establishing lines of joint work, from the conviction that real cooperation between administrations is essential for their achievement.
For this reason, it was not understood that having contacted through formal channels to make an appointment last Monday, the messages were launched yesterday through the media.
However, Victoria Rodríguez takes the opportunity to remind the Government team that the City Council can make decisions regarding urban planning that provide agility and facilitate not only the work of the Free Trade Zone – which in some plots has little or no presence – but also that of private owners.
In this sense, the Free Trade Zone delegate suggests to Martín Vila, as an example, that an effective measure would be to divide the execution units of the General Plan into smaller ones.
Regarding the reactivation of the Investment Acquisition Office (OPEX), Victoria Rodríguez praises the good work done by its diagnostic technicians and which was reflected in a detailed and faithful vision of the situation in which the outdoor area was located. Rodríguez values the need to launch an effective and joint tool but "never unilaterally and call it OPEX or any other instrument that speeds up the development of the site. It will be one of the priority issues to start the work as soon as possible."
Finally, the delegate recalls that the project for the Ibérica AGA plot was one of the concrete and innovative proposals presented by the PSOE municipal group to which she belonged until a week ago and which, therefore, is one of its priorities.
For Victoria Rodríguez "it is essential to generate a place of entrepreneurship, an area of employment generation for young people that gives dynamism and economic growth to the city. The development of Iberica AGA can help change the inertia of paralysis in which the outdoor area is located and that it gains momentum to continue with other spaces.
