The future tax zone of the Free Zone on the land of El Fresno, in Los Barrios, is getting closer and closer. The Consortium and the Public Agency of Ports of Andalusia (APPA) have reached an agreement in principle to grant possession of the aforementioned land to the Fiscal Institution, an agreement that has been authorized this morning by the Executive Committee of the Consortium and which is also expected to be ratified in the near future by the governing body of the APPA.
This principle of agreement culminates several months of negotiations between the Free Trade Zone and APPA, in which they have prioritized the general interest and institutional loyalty, which have come together in maximum collaboration to seek the viability and development of the lands of El Fresno, from the conviction that this is a key and priority project for the economy and employment of both the entire Bay of Algeciras, and the province in general.
The agreement implies the title of possession of a land of about 90,000 m2 in Fresno – which the Free Trade Zone accesses through a lease contract – a requirement that was essential on the part of the General Directorate of Customs to obtain the Authorization of a tax facility. Another 38,900 m will be added to this surface2 approximately what Zona Franca already has in Sector 1 of El Fresno Sur, so the future tax precinct will have an approximate area of more than 130,000 m2.
In parallel to the negotiations with the APPA, the Free Trade Zone informed the Subdirectorate General of Customs Management last week of the progress of the negotiations to obtain the land possession title. The willingness of this body of the Ministry of Finance was complete to resume and expedite the processing of the tax precinct application file already submitted by the Free Trade Zone, so that in the coming months the Ministerial Order could be obtained that will authorize the creation of a new tax precinct dependent on the Cádiz Free Zone in the Bay of Algeciras.
The development of this facility with customs and tax advantages will be a focus of attracting investments in the area, which will consolidate the Region and the entire province as one of the country's logistical pillars, forming a first-class logistics space around the Port of Algeciras, strengthening the business fabric with the consequent creation of wealth and employment.
