The Free Zone complex in Algeciras takes another step forward

The project for the development of the industrial and logistics enclosure in the Cortijo Real-Los Pastores, in Algeciras, has taken another new step forward. The special delegate of Zona Franca in Cádiz, Alfonso Pozuelo, accompanied by technicians from the institution, informed this morning to the mayor of Algeciras, José Ignacio Landaluce, that the draft draft of the Strategic Environmental Evaluation Study is already written that, once reviewed by the municipal and free zone technicians, the original will be sent to the Junta de Andalucía. This document is an indispensable requirement since 2015 to obtain the modification of the General Plan that makes it possible to create this important industrial enclave in the city.

The mayor highlighted the importance of this new advance, within a slow and farra bureaucratic process. "We have been working for years and we are aware that there is much to achieve, but we continue advancing and we know that with tenacity, desire and illusion we will arrive where we want," said Landaluce.

Alfonso Pozuelo, on the other hand, highlighted the importance of institutional collaboration and loyalty in this process, highlighting the cooperation that the City Council has always lent.

The Free Zone Delegate reaffirmed the commitment of the fiscal institution with the city, which is already being reflected with the progress in all the necessary administrative documentation required by the specific modification of the PGOU for the development of a future fiscal enclosure in Cortijo Real-Los Pastores, which qualified as “very important for Algeciras, it will be a logistics referent that will generate wealth and employment in the area”.

Pozuelo explained that, in parallel to all the work done for the modification of the General Plan, Zona Franca is working on the partial plans of the affected area to advance in the necessary work for its urbanization, which advanced has a total investment assessment of approximately 20 million euros.

The creation of this important business infrastructure for the Gibraltar Campo region is therefore closer, once the necessary urban processing phase is culminated for the final approval of the modification of the aforementioned plan, which will follow a second phase to obtain the qualification of that land of 125,000 m2 As a fiscal enclosure, the final objective of this ambitious project for Algeciras and the entire region of the Campo de Gibraltar that the Algecireño government team and Cádiz Free Zone pursue.

The enclosure in Cortijo Real-Los Pastores will be a focus to capture investments in the area, favoring the implementation of companies that complement the activity of the port of Algeciras and consolidating the city and the entire region as a national and international logistics reference.
