The Free Trade Zone delegate and the mayor of the municipality analyzed the upcoming start of work on the facilities of the first 7 companies, after the completion of the procedures for the Modification of the PGOU
Zona Franca will undertake a first package of works, with a budget that will be around 25 million euros
The site in Los Barrios has 140,000 m2 and it is one of the main milestones of the great project to enlarge and expand the Free Trade Zone to the entire province.
The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone, Jorge Ramos, and the mayor of Los Barrios, Jorge Romero, held a meeting this week to discuss the next start of the works on the facilities of the first companies that will be located in the Free Trade Zone area in El Fresno, Los Barrios, once the procedures for the Modification of the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU) have been completed.
In fact, there are already seven industries that will be installed in this Free Trade Zone space in Los Barrios, which will begin with a large logistics center, located on the PLT1 plot of 44,439 m2, which contemplates the construction of a set of three industrial warehouses consisting of a refrigeration facility, a dry warehouse and a workshop warehouse; as well as another 6 companies dedicated to the food sector, dairy products, seafood, a weighing and verification center for maritime containers destined for export, etc.
The meeting between the representatives of both institutions has taken place after the processing of the Modification of Urban Planning, necessary for the implementation of industries, has been completed in recent days, with its ratification by the Plenary of the City Council and its submission to the Junta de Andalucía for entry in the Registry of Urban Instruments of the Autonomous Community.
Ramos and Romero addressed the situation and this new stage, since with the final approval it is possible for the Los Barrios City Council to grant the corresponding construction licenses so that the Cádiz Free Trade Zone can proceed to the tender for a first package of works that will be around 25 million euros and that will be the subject of an agreement that both institutions will sign in the near future.
Furthermore, and in order to shorten the deadlines as much as possible, the Free Trade Zone delegate and the mayor of Barreño agreed on the convenience of combining the construction licenses of these companies with the corresponding activity licenses that allow the industrial activities contemplated by the new facilities to begin once the work is completed.
Jorge Ramos also informed Jorge Romero that, in accordance with Article 125 of the Public Sector Contracting Law, which includes the need to supervise the projects for the bidding of the work, he will immediately proceed to commission the studies of these projects as a prior step to the bidding.
The seven companies that will occupy the facilities demand a total area of more than 70,000 m2 and they have an investment of more than 35 million euros and a forecast of creating more than 400 jobs.
El Fresno will be a productive space of great importance given its strategic location, since the tax area will be located next to the northern access to the Port of Algeciras and at the foot of the road communication with Seville and Madrid and the Mediterranean corridor, which makes it the most important hinterland of the Port of Algeciras.
