Free Zone and GADES-PORT sign an agreement for the participation of the Consortium in the 2016 Grand Regatta

Jorge Ramos, delegate of the Fiscal Institution, and Bernardino Copano, president of the Port Community of Cádiz, sign the agreement at the Headquarters

The Free Trade Zone will collaborate in holding the event in the exhibition area next to the dock where its historical connection with maritime activity and trade will be reflected.

The Cádiz Free Trade Zone will be actively present in the 2016 Great Regatta that will be held in the capital from the 28th to the 31st of this month. This is stated in the agreement signed this morning at the Consortium's Headquarters between the Special Delegate of the State, Jorge Ramos, and the president of GADES-PORT, Bernardino Copano, by which Zona Franca will participate in the exhibition space next to the Cádiz dock in which it will inform visitors to the event of the Consortium's connection with the commercial and maritime tradition of the city.

With this agreement, the Free Trade Zone joins the port community's objective of disseminating during the Great Regatta the economic and social strengths represented by the different Cadiz companies and institutions. For this purpose, an exhibition area has been designed in the leisure space next to the pier in which more than ten entities will participate and will show the importance of the business fabric of the area for the socioeconomic development of the Bay.

Free Zone will have a space in this exhibition area in which it will take a graphic tour of the activity of the Institution from its beginnings, starting with the hard works of the physical constitution of the premises with the filling work of the land reclaimed from the sea, until reaching the current era with the network of business centers throughout the province and the important expansion and expansion project that lays the foundations of the Free Zone of the 21st century with important productive spaces for the area.

In addition, the Consortium will participate in the formal events within the official program, will have an information point in the business area to assist those interested in any specific equipment or project launched by the Institution and will promote, where appropriate, the dissemination of the regatta in its scope of action.

The 2016 Great Regatta, in which more than forty boats will meet, is the fifth reunion between the city and the largest sailboats in the world. The first occasion was in 1992, the magical year of the Universal Exposition in Seville and the Olympic Games in Barcelona. This was followed by the calls of 2000 and 2006 and the last one, in 2012, a date also marked for the people of Cádiz due to the commemoration of the Bicentennial of the Constitution promulgated in the city. All of them had massive support from the public that packed the docks.

For this reason, the 2016 Great Regatta aims to once again involve the people of Cádiz to make the dock of this ancient city its own space full of life. Thus, during the event, a leisure space has been designed next to the pier where there will be concerts, parades, tents for hospitality, a space reserved for scientific dissemination and the aforementioned exhibition area.
