Spanish Red Cross expands its facilities in the warehouses of the Bajo de la Cabezuela Free Trade Zone

The entity adds a 565 m warehouse2 to the three it already occupies in Puerto Real, to convert these facilities into a large logistics center of 2,260 m2 that provides food collection, storage and distribution services to the entire province

In parallel, it exchanges one of the warehouses it already occupied with another adjacent one, to facilitate the movement of goods and personnel between all its facilities, forming a functional unit.

Lot 1,696 m2 currently occupied have proven insufficient to cover the entire province

This non-profit institution benefits from the bonuses that the Free Zone has for carrying out a purpose of public utility.

The Executive Committee of the Free Zone of Cádiz in its session last Thursday, May 19, approved the expansion of the Spanish Red Cross facilities in the Bajo de la Cabezuela warehouses, from where the collection, storage and distribution of food is carried out throughout the province.

Specifically, the Spanish Red Cross adds a warehouse – the B-04 – of 565 m2 to the three that it already occupies in the group of warehouses in the Free Trade Zone in Puerto Real, which forms a large logistics center of 2,260 m2 from which to respond to the entire province. In parallel, it moved from one of the warehouses it already occupied to another annexed to the remaining ones, creating a functional unit that facilitates the movement of goods and personnel between them. Specifically, it will occupy ships B-03, B-09, B-04 and B-10, which occupy the same central space.

Spanish Red Cross takes advantage of the bonuses that the Consortium offers to those entities declared of public utility, or that allocate the space to the realization of purposes of public utility or social interest, or associations that, without profit, provide services to entrepreneurs or companies.

This large logistics center in Bajo de la Cabezuela is responsible for centralizing the reception and distribution of food intended for different groups, as well as its classification, storage and distribution according to demand. The strategic location of this industrial area, now better connected thanks to the second bridge in Cádiz, makes the location unbeatable for the Spanish Red Cross, especially in distribution work.

It is worth remembering that the Free Zone traditionally collaborates with this type of entities dedicated to social purposes and in fact there are lines of collaboration, in addition to the Spanish Red Cross, with other associations or entities such as the Food Bank, also located in Bajo de La Cabezuela, Cáritas, ADACCA or Autismo Cádiz, since we must not forget that the social work of the Consortium is included in its Statutes in the description of its objectives: the socioeconomic development of its area of influence.
