Zona Franca puts out to tender the adaptation works of a 13,500 m2 industrial warehouse in the old Altadis

The Executive Committee of the Consortium approves this action, which has a tender budget of 997,906.68 euros (VAT not included)

The works will condition the so-called League Preparation Plant (PPL) for its future use as a logistics center, with adaptation of loading and unloading docks, improvements to the roof, electrical installation, fire protection system and painting, among other works.

Zona Franca already requested the Cádiz City Council at the beginning of the week for the construction license in order to speed up the deadlines

The Executive Committee of the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz has approved this morning the tender for the works necessary for the adaptation of the so-called League Preparation Plant (PPL), located on the plot of the old Altadis, already incorporated into the Cádiz tax complex after authorization by the Ministry of Finance and Public Administrations last March.

The work involves modernizing and adapting a 13,575 m industrial warehouse2 of surface for the storage and logistics management of aeronautical elements, both assembled and elementary parts and assemblies. This facility will house the offices of a logistics center that is expected to be installed in the Cádiz Free Trade Zone in August. To this end, and in parallel, Zona Franca will also undertake work – which was put out to tender last week – to adapt the offices of the building annexed to the PPL, with an area of 300 m2, and put them in conditions of use and habitability.

The adaptation works of the industrial warehouse have a budget of 997,906.68 euros (VAT not included) and a maximum execution period of 20 weeks, the reduction of which is assessed in the specifications.

The work will be undertaken in two phases, during the first of which - which will last until week 8 - the pavement in the middle of the warehouse will be adapted, a platform for truck unloading and another for truck loading and access ramps to the warehouse for truck circulation inside it will be developed, overcoming a 2-meter difference in level. In addition, repairs will be carried out on the deck.

In the second phase – from week 9 until the end of work – the work on the pavement, electrical and fire installations will be completed, as well as the completion of the platforms and ramps started in the first phase.

This work, together with the tender for the adaptation of offices and the demolition of part of the separation fence between the old Altadis and the current premises, represent an investment of 1.3 million euros by Zona Franca to attract investments to the new productive space generated on the land of the old tobacco factory and which already make up the Cádiz tax area, which has grown from 330,000 m2 a 486.881 m2 of surface with all the customs and fiscal advantages inherent to the Free Zone.

It is worth remembering that the expansion of the tax area has been the result of an intense and complex processing process, starting from the decision to expand and expand the Free Trade Zone in Cádiz and the province and once the Consortium acquired the land from the former tobacco company in June 2015.
