The declaration of “Autonomous Interest” would make it possible to accelerate and undertake the urbanization works of the Cortijo Real
The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone in Cádiz, Jorge Ramos, and the mayor of Algeciras, José Ignacio Landaluce, met this morning at the Headquarters of the Free Zone where, while approving the proposal to integrate access to the Cortijo Real at its confluence with the South Access to the port of Algeciras to submit it to the Highway Headquarters of the Ministry of Public Works, both institutions have agreed submit to the Junta de Andalucía the declaration of “Autonomous Interest of the Free Zone Tax Precinct in the Cortijo Real.”
This declaration would mean drastically accelerating the deadlines for the modification of the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU) of Algeciras, which makes possible the construction of a Fiscal Precinct of more than 150,000 m2.
For the mayor and the Special State delegate, the reality of a tax and customs Free Zone, complementary to the Port of Algeciras, cannot and should not be delayed in view of the current economic situation of expansion and thus take advantage of the implementation of new companies that generate economic activity and employment in the city.
Ramos asked the mayor of Algeciras for his maximum involvement and collaboration in ensuring that this new tax precinct can become a reality in 2017, which would imply accelerating the procedures in order to urgently address the urbanization and exterior surveillance enclosure of the new precinct.
The mayor of Algeciras offered to immediately take steps both before the Ministry of Public Works, regarding the layout of access to the industrial estate, and before the Junta de Andalucía to reach as soon as possible the Declaration of “Autonomous Interest” that clearly clears the schedule for the start of the works on the new fiscal precinct.
