The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone, Jorge Ramos, and the mayor of Algeciras, José Ignacio Landaluce, accompanied by officials from the Algeciras Free Warehouse (DALSE) and the company in charge of the work, visited on Tuesday the works of comprehensive improvement of facilities and installation of new cold rooms in the Algeciras Free Warehouse, located at the Isla Verde Dock.

Jorge Ramos and José Ignacio Landaluce received the explanations from the technicians and were able to verify the good progress of the work, which began at the beginning of this month.

During the tour, the Algeciras mayor thanked Zona Franca for the strong commitment it is making to the city and highlighted the capacity of the Cádiz Institution to generate economic activity and jobs, which will be increased enormously with the installation of the Fiscal Precinct on the land of Cortijo Real in Algeciras.

The delegate of the Free Zone highlighted the full collaboration between the Algeciras City Council and the Free Zone, something he described as very necessary because "the Consortium always puts itself at the service of progress, development and the generation of economic activity and employment."

Jorge Ramos explained that after the improvement work, for which a significant investment of one million euros has been made, the facilities will double their storage capacity and, above all, cold storage, which will also generate double activity and consequently the number of jobs will double, currently 25.

It should be remembered that the works, awarded to the company Sacyr Construcciones for an amount of 781,398.63 euros (VAT not included), contemplate a comprehensive improvement of the facilities with replacement of hydraulic platforms in the loading docks, placement of automatic doors between the ships, repair of roofs, signaling and painting works in general and installation of two frigoific chambers, among others.

The customs and fiscal deposit of Algeciras is composed of closed facilities perimeter and isolated from the rest of the port environment. It consists of four ships with a covered surface of approximately 8,400 m2 and an attached plot whose discovered surface is approximately 3,200 m2, equipped with ten docks for cargo and discharge of vehicles.
