The APBC makes available to the Consortium an area of 11,819 square meters next to the old Altadis, which is affected by the port public domain
This is an important step to make effective the expansion of the Tax Precinct in the capital of Cadiz
The president of the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz (APBC), José Luis Blanco Romero, and the special delegate of the State for the Cádiz Free Zone Consortium (CZFC), Jorge Ramos Aznar, have signed today an agreement that will facilitate the implementation of new companies in the tax area.
This is an important step for the expansion of the Free Zone with the land acquired by the Consortium from Altadis, since the APBC makes available to the Free Zone an area of 11,819.45 square meters of the service area of the Zone Port. Franca de Cádiz, which runs longitudinally next to the old Altadis lands.
It must be remembered that the land of the old tobacco factory occupies an area of 105,000 m2, to which we must add those that the Free Trade Zone itself has in that area and that were leased to Altadis, with a total of 39,000 m2, and those that now makes the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz available to the Consortium.
The purpose of this agreement is to facilitate the temporary use of said surface by the Free Zone to use it to provide services to companies whose entity is related to the corporate purpose of the Consortium, especially with maritime traffic.
The APBC authorizes the CZFC to occupy the plot, directly or by transferring it to a third party, for offices or storage facilities for products or economic activities authorized by the Free Trade Zone. The agreement signed today has a duration of 35 years and can be extended up to a maximum of 50 years.
The president of the Port Authority has highlighted the importance of institutional collaboration and responsibility as facilitators of infrastructure and services that favor the development of the business fabric.
In this sense, José Luis Blanco recalled that port activity is one of the main economic drivers of the Bay and has expressed his wish and interest that agreements such as the one signed today contribute to continue growing in this sense.
The delegate of the Free Zone has highlighted the line of work carried out by the Consortium in which collaboration between institutions takes priority to benefit the promotion of economic activity and job creation, especially by favoring the establishment of companies. The head of the Cádiz Institution has added that the need for space in the capital is great, taking into account that the current Tax Precinct is practically full.
In this sense, Jorge Ramos has indicated that after the meeting held with the General Directorate of Customs last month, the inclusion of the land in the Cádiz Fiscal Precinct is close, "which will allow us to begin the procedures to make the Public Offer and with this the implementation of companies that have already shown interest.”
