The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Jorge Ramos, and the mayor of Los Barrios, Jorge Romero, have presided today over the ceremony to begin work to correct technical deficiencies and comprehensive improvement in the Palmones Industrial Estate, in Los Neighborhoods. The event took place on a plot owned by the Marismas de Palmones Business and Technology Park Consortium.
Those responsible for the Free Trade Zone and the City Council showed their satisfaction with a project that was born thanks to the collaboration between institutions and aimed at creating quality infrastructures that help and promote the economic and industrial fabric of the municipality.
During the event, the Free Zone delegate highlighted the strong presence of the Consortium in Los Barrios with the recent beginning of the construction of the business incubator aimed at entrepreneurs and which is carried out in collaboration with the Campo de Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce, and with the imminent implementation of important companies in the tax zone of the Free Trade Zone on the land of El Fresno.
Mayor Jorge Romero thanked Zona Franca for its commitment to the municipality and the important investment made in the different projects and actions, while also remembering the impact that the implementation of new companies in the Fiscal Precinct will have on Los Barrios, something of a crucial importance for the municipality.
The works will consist of a comprehensive improvement of an area that is a reference for economic activities in the Region, in which actions such as strengthening the urban structure will be carried out; the improvement of service infrastructures and the enhancement of the global image, which will redesign, improve and, in some cases, even create new spaces, thus correcting an obsolete infrastructure over the years and modernizing and energizing a space business that attracts population from the entire Campo de Gibraltar region.
The company in charge of the work is Vías y Construcciones, for an award amount of 2,955,755.09 euros (VAT not included), being co-financed by funds requested within the Framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Andalusia 2007-2013.
The comprehensive improvement of the Palmones Industrial Estate is part of the line of work that Zona Franca carries out to reinforce its presence in the province and, in particular, in Campo de Gibraltar with the development of infrastructure that promotes economic activity and, therefore, Therefore, they favor job creation.
