The objective is to carry out a conservation and maintenance plan for the buildings, as well as joining the central network of the Free Trade Zone for supplies, evacuation network and surveillance system.
This action has a budget of 59,500 euros (VAT not included), co-financed by Funds requested within the Framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Andalusia 2007-2013
This week, the Cádiz Free Trade Zone has commissioned the basic and execution project called “Building and Facility Conservation Works in the former Altadis facilities”, acquired by the Tax Institution last June along with the land of the former tobacco factory, which will be incorporated into its Tax Precinct.
The project will consist of the preparation of an intervention plan for the maintenance of the current facilities to prevent their deterioration, as well as guaranteeing the operation of the supplies, evacuation network and surveillance and control system and their integration into the central network of the Free Trade Zone. On the land occupied by the old tobacco factory there are a series of facilities that were dedicated to the manufacture of tobacco, such as a service building, an office building and several warehouses, among other facilities.
Therefore, the objective is to guarantee that existing buildings can be put into use, and independently, if necessary, complying with their functionality, access operability and security. As general lines, the project will contemplate actions such as review of the roofs and vertical enclosures; review of the exterior carpentry elements that ensure the enclosure of the building with respect to the outside; verification that there are no elements inside the buildings that put the safety of its use and transit at risk; review of the condition of the paint; checking loading docks; relocation of the existing surveillance and control system to the central facilities of the Free Trade Zone; assessment of how to make the supplies of each installation independent; and review of the entire system of joints and unions that ensure the watertightness of the buildings.
The preparation of the aforementioned project has a budget of 59,500 euros (VAT not included), co-financed by funds requested in the FEDER Operational Framework of Andalusia 2007-2013.
The drafting of the project is one more step in the procedures that the Free Trade Zone is expediting to begin the implementation of companies, since currently the Tax Precinct is practically full, so it is necessary and urgent to have its expansion. It should be remembered that the Free Trade Zone already approved last June the bases of the Public Offer for these lands, as well as the rates to be applied in the lease and also requested the General Directorate of Customs to include the lands in the Fiscal Area.
The land of the former tobacco factory occupies an area of 105,000 m2, to which must be added the land owned by the Free Zone itself in that area and which was leased to Altadis, with a total of 39,000 m2, and the 5,000 m2 that are owned by the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz and with whom an agreement for the concession will be signed.
With all this, the Fiscal Precinct of the Free Zone in the capital of Cadiz will have 480,000 m2, becoming an important industrial focus and for which there are already companies interested in locating there.
