The Cádiz Free Trade Zone Consortium will begin in the coming days the work to correct technical deficiencies and improvements in the Palmones Industrial Estate, in Los Barrios, with a ceremony to begin works next Monday, August 17, which will include with the presence of the Special State Delegate, Jorge Ramos, and the mayor of the town, Jorge Romero.
The works will consist of a comprehensive improvement of an area that is a reference for economic activities in the Region, in which actions such as strengthening the urban structure will be carried out; the improvement of service infrastructures and the enhancement of the global image, which will redesign, improve and, in some cases, even create new spaces, thus correcting an obsolete infrastructure over the years and modernizing and energizing a space business that attracts population from the entire Campo de Gibraltar region.
It should be remembered that the company Vías y Construcciones will carry out the works for an award amount of 2,955,755.09 euros (VAT not included), being co-financed by funds requested within the Framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Andalusia 2007-2013. The works were put out to tender on March 5 and 17 offers were presented.
Likewise, the Consortium has already made the payment to the City Council of the global amount of 241,707.13 euros, for the corresponding construction license, in the amount of 83,986.33 euros, and the Construction, Installations and Works Tax (ICIO), for the amount of 157,720.80 euros.
The comprehensive improvement of the Palmones Industrial Estate is part of the line of work that Zona Franca carries out to reinforce its presence in the province and, in particular, in Campo de Gibraltar with the development of infrastructure that promotes economic activity and, therefore, Therefore, they favor job creation. Specifically, in the municipality of Los Barrios the Consortium also began work a few weeks ago for a 14-ship business incubator that it promotes in collaboration with the Campo de Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce and the Incyde Foundation, located in the Marismas Business and Technology Park. of Palmones.
The comprehensive improvement works in the Palmones industrial estate are part of other actions that the Cádiz Consortium is carrying out in other industrial estates in the province, specifically in the El Portal Industrial Estate in Jerez de la Frontera and the La Palmosa Industrial Estate, in Alcalá de los Gazules which, once completed, will offer quality services and help reactivate the industrial and business fabric of its areas of influence.
