In order to expedite the start of the works, Zona Franca paid the Los Barrios City Council in March the total amount of 241,707.13 euros as a construction license and Construction, Installations and Works Tax (ICIO).
A total of 17 companies have submitted to the public tender opened on March 5 by the Cádiz Free Trade Zone to undertake the works for the execution of the Project to Correct Technical Deficiencies and Improvements in the Palmones Industrial Estate, in Los Barrios.
These works, co-financed by funds requested within the Framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Andalusia 2007-2013, have a base tender budget of 4,048,425 euros (VAT not included).
Once the deadline for receiving offers ended, last Tuesday, March 31, a first phase of qualification of administrative documentation began, which concludes today, Thursday, April 9, at 12:00 p.m. with the opening of the technical offers. Once the report has been prepared with the results of the technical offers, the economic offers will be opened and evaluated, the date of which will be informed in a timely manner through the Contractor's Profile on the website www.zonafrancacadiz.com.
It is worth remembering that, in order to speed up the deadlines for the start of the work, the Consortium made the payment last March at the Los Barrios City Council of the global amount of 241,707.13 euros, in respect of the corresponding construction license, in the amount of 83,986.33 euros, and the Construction, Installations and Works Tax (ICIO), in the amount of 157,720.80 euros.
The comprehensive improvement of the Palmones Industrial Estate is part of the line of work of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone to reinforce its presence in the province and, in particular, in Campo de Gibraltar in order to generate investments and create infrastructures that promote economic activity and, therefore, generate wealth and employment.
The works will consist of a comprehensive improvement of this industrial estate, with actions grouped into three areas such as: strengthening the urban structure; the improvement of service infrastructures and the enhancement of the global image, actions that will redesign, improve and, in some cases, create new spaces, in order to correct an obsolete infrastructure over the years, modernizing and energizing a facility that attracts the population of the entire Campo de Gibraltar region.
