Zona Franca begins the expansion works of Harinera Vilafranquina in the Inner Enclosure

The works, awarded for 11,145,520€ to the UTE SACYR Construcciones S.A.-Pérez Jiménez Construcciones, have an execution period of 9 months
The action is one of the most important for the city's economy in the coming years

The works are co-financed by Funds requested within the Framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Andalusia 2007-2013

The president of the Free Zone Consortium and mayor of Cádiz, Teófila Martínez, together with the Special Delegate of the State in the Cádiz Institution, Jorge Ramos, and José Alemany, deputy general director of Harinera Vilafranquina, have presided this morning in the Interior Campus of the act of laying the first stone of the new silo warehouse for Storage, Mixing and Bulk Loading of Flour that the Cádiz institution is going to develop in collaboration with the Catalan company.
Present at the event were the president of the Port Authority of the Bay of Cádiz, José Luis Blanco, and the president of the Confederation of Businessmen of Cádiz, Javier Sánchez Rojas, Cirilo Sánchez, head of Purchasing of the Cádiz department, as well as Free Zone technicians and representatives of the UTE SACYR Construcciones SA-Pérez Jiménez Construcciones, winner of the works for an amount of 11,145,520.50 euros (VAT not included), which represents a reduction of 19.03% compared to the budget Bidding.
The new silo warehouse will expand the facilities of the agri-food company, as it is connected to the current plant, forming a functional unit.
Both the mayor and Jorge Ramos agreed that this action is one of the most important for the city's economy, since it will generate economic activity, by increasing the storage capacity of Vilafranquina by 7,933 m3, with the consequent increase in its competitiveness. and its reflection in the city's business environment.
Jorge Ramos explained that with the laying of the first stone of the new Harinera plant, the relaunch of the Cádiz Free Trade Zone is confirmed, with a Fiscal Precinct filled to 98%, which will be at 100% very soon with the incorporation of two new industries.
Along these lines, the delegate of the Free Trade Zone stressed that the Cádiz Institution is immersed in one of the most ambitious projects in its history, the extension and expansion to other municipalities in the province, a project that represents a live investment of about 180 million of euros, and which will place the Free Trade Zone as the first productive center in the province in the next 3-5 years.
With all this, Jorge Ramos highlighted that this year "we are in a position to say that all the investments underway in the Free Zone will create between 800 and 1,000 direct jobs."
Teófila Martínez, for her part, thanked Zona Franca and its management team for their commitment to Cádiz and also had words of praise for Harinera Vilafranquina, which has committed to the city of Cádiz and provides an unbeatable perspective for job creation.
José Alemany pointed out that the company installed in Cádiz is a benchmark at the European level and the expansion of the factory will consolidate the activity and the jobs created, while at the same time it will allow it to face new challenges.
The works that begin today have an execution period of 9 months and are co-financed by Funds requested within the Framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Andalusia 2007-2013.
The construction, consisting of an installation of aerial metal silos intended for the collection of flour, will have an area of ​​631.28 m2 with a maximum height of 47.10 meters. This silo module will be adjacent to the existing grain warehouses although separate from the existing flour production building and connected only by an aerial walkway at the top.
The first level will be used for truck loading, clean production area, access, warehouses and compressor room. The following levels will be used for machinery and process equipment, while the last level will be used to fill the silos.
The investment in machinery, which consists of a weighing system, hoist, storage silos, installation of mechanical equipment, sanitary equipment, elevator and pallet racking, amounts to 8.3 million euros.
It should be remembered that the Consortium put out to tender the works on December 1, for which a total of 12 offers were finally submitted. That same day, the Special delegate of the State in the Free Trade Zone, Jorge Ramos, and the sole administrator of Harinera, José María Solá Vall, signed the contract for the expansion of the plant in the Cadiz tax area, an operation that days before The Executive Committee of the Consortium had given the green light.
