The General Directorate of Community Funds, dependent on the Ministry of Finance and Public Administrations, has granted the Cádiz Free Trade Zone an increase of 13,859,700 euros in the funds allocated over the 66 million allocated within the Feder Operational Program of Andalusia 2007-2013, bringing the total funds for the Cádiz Consortium to 80 million euros.
The request in this regard made by the Zona Franca at the beginning of this month of March has received a quick response, granting the increase in funds, taking into account that the Cádiz Consortium is an intermediate body in the Andalusian Operational Program within the 2007-2013 Community Framework and that it is carrying out an important extension and expansion project to the entire province.
In this way, the plan to consolidate and expand the Fiscal Precinct to other municipalities thus receives new support from the National Government, which had previously given its support with the granting by the Ministry of Industry of Reindus funds in the amount of 50 million euros.
In fact, in its response to the request for the expansion of Feder Funds, the General Directorate of Community Funds considers the project essential to attract the installation of new companies of a not only logistical but also productive nature, with the consequent impact on the increase in economic activity and the generation of employment.
It must be remembered that the expansion project of the Free Trade Zone throughout the province contemplates the expansion from 300,000 to 1,300,000 m2, which will turn the Cádiz Institution into the first industrial focus of the province of Cádiz and will generate a strong economic movement in the three areas: Bahía de Cádiz, Jerez and Bahía de Algeciras.
Important steps have already been taken in Cádiz and Los Barrios, where the premises will be expanded by 130,000 and 120,000 m2 respectively and whose land will host important companies that will turn the Cádiz Free Trade Zone into a large productive and logistical enclave with the consequent creation of new jobs.
