Jorge Ramos and Jose Ignacio Landaluce meet with the businessmen of Cortijo Real

In parallel, the Cádiz Consortium is working on the project to expand the Tax Precinct on land in this industrial enclave

The special delegate of the Zona Franca in Cádiz, Jorge Ramos, and the mayor of Algeciras, José Ignacio Landaluce, met this Friday with businessmen from the Community of Owners of the Polígono Cortijo Real, headed by its president Alfonso Guisado, to whom they informed about the redevelopment project of this industrial enclave, which will be carried out jointly by the Zona Franca and the Algeciras City Council.
Jorge Ramos explained that in parallel with this redevelopment, the Cádiz Consortium is working on the project to enlarge and expand the Tax Precinct to Cortijo Real land, which will have an area of 130,000 m2, and which is part of the ambitious project to expand the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz to different municipalities in the province.
The representatives of the City Council and the Free Trade Zone agreed that the redevelopment of the Polígono will mean carrying out a radical change and adapting it to the future in order to achieve greater dynamism and for the companies that are installed there to work with greater operability and comfort.
Cortijo Real currently brings together more than 250 companies. In the redevelopment project, the Cádiz Free Trade Zone Consortium will provide 70% of the necessary budget with resources from European funds destined for reindustrialization. The rest will be provided by the Algeciras City Council through the contribution of the land necessary to carry out the action.
Ramos and Landaluce assured that this industrial estate, once remodeled and whose expansion could be operational throughout 2016, and associated with the port's activity, will turn Algeciras into a major hub of economic activity in Andalusia.
In addition to giving details about the redevelopment project, the Free Trade Zone delegate also explained to businessmen the advantages of having a tax and customs facility like the one planned, from the perspective that VAT does not apply to the goods found inside; and by the so-called Active Processing Regime, which implies that certain transformations that merchandise undergoes are not subject to the taxes that would be applied abroad. Thus, objective conditions are offered for companies to be more competitive. “We are on the right path to encourage economic activity and the wealth that goes hand in hand with employment.”
