Landaluce thanked the State delegate for his commitment to the Campo de Gibraltar
The special delegate of the Free Zone in Cádiz, Jorge Ramos, and the mayor of Algeciras, José Ignacio Landaluce, yesterday presented the project for the Free Zone tax facility planned for the Cortijo Real de Algeciras and which is part of the important expansion and expansion project that the Free Zone is carrying out to other municipalities in the province.
Ramos and Landaluce assured that this industrial estate, once it becomes a reality throughout 2016, and associated with the port's activity, will turn Algeciras into a major hub of economic activity in Andalusia. Also present at the event were the municipal delegate for Employment Promotion, Diego de Salas, and the architect who authored the project, Luis Modet.
The delegate of the Free Trade Zone explained the advantages of a fiscal and customs facility such as the one planned, from the perspective that VAT does not apply to the goods found inside; and by the so-called Active Processing Regime, which implies that certain transformations that merchandise undergoes are not subject to the taxes that would be applied abroad. Thus, objective conditions are offered for companies to be more competitive. “We are on the right path to encourage economic activity and the wealth that goes hand in hand with employment,” said Ramos.
The mayor, for his part, stated that this is great news due to the enormous possibilities that a facility of these characteristics offers for the generation of wealth and employment, a primary objective shared by the City Council and the Free Trade Zone, and he thanked Jorge Ramos for his determined commitment to the Campo de Gibraltar and Algeciras for a project of such size and such positive consequences.
In order for the project to be carried out, it has been necessary to make modifications to the General Plan, in sector 9 of Cortijo Real, and to the partial plan of sector 8 of Los Pastores, which are currently in process, to move a road that crosses the polygon and allow a regrouping of plots, creating a single space of 125 thousand square meters that will house the Zona Franca site.
The aforementioned procedures are essential due to the conditions required in this type of facilities, such as the enclosure of the perimeter and the permanent security of that space.
