Zona Franca, together with the Cádiz City Council, carries out the work of regeneration of the Exterior Precinct through OPEX

The Free Zone of Cádiz advances, together with the City Council, in the work of undertaking and leading the reorganization of the Exterior Precinct of the Free Zone, through the Office for Attracting Investments of the Exterior Polygon of the Free Zone, OPEX.
Thus, last Tuesday it acquired the Talleres Faro warehouse from the municipal company EMASA, located on Tarifa Street, specifically in the UE-ZF-11 execution unit, at the entrance to the city and in one of the priority execution areas. at the time of beginning the remodeling works of the Exterior Precinct and which will undergo an exceptional transformation, with great commercial and hotel equipment, along with garden areas and parking, generating economic activity and wealth for all the citizens of Cádiz.
In its session on November 25, the Executive Committee of the Free Trade Zone ratified the purchase of this industrial warehouse, located on Tarifa Street and with an area of 6,000 m2, for an amount of 2.8 million euros.
This acquisition joins those carried out by the Consortium in recent years –former Super Cádiz, Talleres Narváez or ECAVA–, actions all aimed at taking positions for the future in the execution units that will initially be carried out.
It should be noted that, within the context of undertaking a project as ambitious as an urban action that will change the physiognomy of the city, turning it into an emblem of modernity, the urban transformation work that has been entrusted to OPEX is proving extremely complex, since We work from a pre-existing reality that must be adapted to new times. For this reason, since 2011 a thorough diagnostic work has been carried out, through which the 515,000 m2 of the industrial estate have been distributed into 15 execution units, which in turn will be framed in different phases. The development of this project will create a more modern, active and orderly city, which will attract investments.

Actions by phases
In addition to the aforementioned area at the entrance to Cádiz, where this purchase is located, there are two more fundamental areas in which OPEX will focus the development of the outer industrial estate: the area of Navalips and Iberica AGA-Calle Algeciras, for example. which is following a schedule in which work is carried out in different phases and in parallel in several execution units.
The achievement of the development of the “foci” mentioned, with the creation of a Metropolitan Center, and the commercial, hotel and office space at the entrance to the city, and the radical transformation of Algeciras Street, with the setback of the margins, the opening of a street that would unite it with Gibraltar streets and the urbanization of new green spaces and roads, they will revalue the image of Cádiz as a model of urban regeneration, creating in this area the main focus of economic activity, wealth and employment in the city.
