This action is co-financed by the Jerez City Council and Zona Franca, through funds from the framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Andalusia 2007-2013.
In collaboration with the City Council, the improvement of this industrial zone - with more than 40 years, 172 hectares of surface and 600 established companies - aims to offer quality to those already established and attract new investments
This morning, the Cádiz Free Zone has put out to tender the works necessary for the execution of the redevelopment project of the El Portal industrial estate, in Jerez de la Frontera, with the corresponding announcement sent to the Official State Gazette (BOE), after approval by the Executive Committee of the Institution last October. This project, which comes to light thanks to the collaboration between the Consorcio and the Jerez City Council, will serve to completely regenerate this industrial area with the aim of consolidating and making existing companies in it more competitive and attracting new investments that generate wealth and employment in the municipality.
This action, co-financed by the Jerez City Council and the Free Trade Zone - through funds requested within the Framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Andalusia 2007-2013 - has a base bidding budget of 3,853,457.50 euros (VAT not included) and a deadline for submitting offers until December 30, at 2:00 p.m.
Once the offers are received, the qualification process will proceed, following the requirements demanded in the specifications. The opening of technical offers is scheduled for January 15, at 12:00 p.m., information about which will be made available in a timely manner through the Contractor Profile on the website www.zonafrancacadiz.com. The works have a maximum execution period of one year.
Until reaching the milestone of bidding for the works, the Consortium has been streamlining previous procedures to be able to carry out this action. Thus, it is worth remembering that the Cádiz Institution and the City Council signed an executive agreement on November 7 for the comprehensive improvement of the industrial estate, one of the oldest in the city. –urbanized in 1968 - and one of the largest, with 172 hectares and more than 600 companies located there.
Comprehensive redevelopment of roads
The redevelopment of El Portal is 75% co-financed by Zona Franca with FEDER Funds and the remaining 25% by the City Council. The project, drafted by the technical services of the Urban Planning Delegation and supervised by Zona Franca technicians, includes the comprehensive redevelopment of the industrial estate's roads, for which the reorganization of the sections of these streets has been planned in order to guarantee and organize the vehicle traffic and parking spaces that are generated. In this first phase of action, the units corresponding to pavements, parking lots and sidewalks are fundamentally contemplated, as well as those necessary for the modification of the services that may be affected. Since the plots are urbanized and have the minimum service infrastructure, it has been considered a priority to prioritize the reorganization actions, leaving the rest of the infrastructure to be improved for successive phases. Specifically, the proposed actions will affect 225,440 m2 of road surfaces: Cantos Ropero Avenue: 2,500 m long and 50 m wide (125,000 m2); South Africa Street: 2,300 m long and 25 m wide (57,500 m2); Morocco Street: 1,500 m long and 25 m wide (37,500 m2); Senegal Street: 320 ml long and 17 m wide (5,440 m2).
With this project already underway, the Cádiz Free Trade Zone continues to consolidate its commitment and presence in Jerez, after the completion of the rehabilitation of the Convent of San Agustín, an “emblematic” work.” which will highlight an architectural heritage at the service of entrepreneurs and whose works are progressing at a good pace, with a forecast that a part of the building will be able to be inaugurated in the first quarter of 2015, as well as the exterior urbanization of the reorganization of Puerto Street, which will be operational in the current month of December; In addition, the location of the land on which the Consortium will create a tax facility in the city is being finalized, within the framework of its expansion plan to the province. These spaces, which will be around 125,000 m2, require a concentration of land since it has to be a fenced and perimeter-limited area.
