Zona Franca will carry out the comprehensive improvement of the Palmones industrial estates in Los Barrios and El Portal in Jerez, as well as the Arcos Building
The projects that the Cádiz Free Trade Zone has planned in several municipalities of the province will receive a boost on October 22, when the Executive Committee approves the start of the bidding for works in Jerez, Los Barrios and Arcos.
The State delegate in the Free Trade Zone and president of the Executive Committee will receive from the Consortium's governing body authorization to put out to tender the comprehensive improvement works of the El Portal Industrial Estate, in Jerez, and the Palmones Industrial Estate, in Los Barrios, as well as the work of the Arcos Building.
With regard to Jerez, the Executive Committee already authorized in March the signing of the executive agreement between the Cádiz Consortium and the Jerez City Council to carry out the comprehensive improvement of the Polígono, a rehabilitation that has a budget close to 4 million euros, co-financed by Feder Funds, and that will serve to completely regenerate this industrial area with the aim of consolidating the existing companies there and attracting new investments.
In Palmones, the technical services of Zona Franca have recently supervised and approved the “Project to correct technical deficiencies and improvements in the Palmones Industrial Estate in Los Barrios”, which will have a budget of 4,048,425 euros, financed 70% by Zona Franca and 30% by the Los Barrios City Council. The different actions that are going to be carried out are financed with a subsidy from the FEDER Funds within the Operational Program “Andalusia 2007-2013”.
As for Arcos, the State delegate in the Cádiz Free Zone, Jorge Ramos, and the mayor of Arcos de la Frontera, José Luis Núñez, ratified at the end of 2012 the collaboration agreement through which the Consortium recovers an old commitment with Arcos, which was acquired by the previous delegate during the last legislature in 2009 and which was not carried out, which contemplates the construction of a business center intended mainly for entrepreneurs, which will have the latest technologies and amenities necessary for setting up a company with minimal difficulties.
The first phase will be approximately 3,280 m² built and in which 1,181 m² will be parking, 987 m² of commercial premises on the ground floor and 1,112 m² of offices and will have an estimated tender budget of 2,700,163 euros (VAT not included).
