The Free Trade Zone is advancing in its project to comprehensively improve the Industrial Estate in Jerez, after the Governing Board of this City Council approved the executive agreement between the Cádiz Consortium and the Jerez City Council to execute the works, which will have a budget close to 4 million euros.
After having the approval of the Executive Committee of the Free Zone, this step will allow the Free Zone to put out to tender in the coming weeks the works that will serve to completely regenerate this industrial zone with the aim of consolidating the more than 600 existing companies in it and attracting new investments.
The Free Zone and City Council project has a budget close to 4 million euros, 75% co-financed by the Free Zone with FEDER Funds and the remaining 25% by the City Council. The objective of the agreement is to put into practice the protocol of intentions signed by the Free Trade Zone delegate, Jorge Ramos, and the mayor of Jerez, María José García Pelayo, last May and which contemplates the comprehensive rehabilitation of El Portal, one of the oldest industrial estates in the city and one of the largest, with 172 hectares, a perimeter of 6,500 meters and more than 600 companies located therein.
The works will affect three streets of the Polígono, Cantos Ropero, Morocco and South Africa, with works aimed at improving urban infrastructure, paving, potholes, curbs, and services, cleaning green areas, street furniture, signage and service networks.
The comprehensive rehabilitation project aims to enhance this Industrial Estate, which was very deteriorated, and reinforce its image so that it becomes an attractive place to invest and consolidate existing companies.
The Free Zone of Cádiz thus consolidates its presence in Jerez, after its strong commitment to the city after launching the rehabilitation of the Convent of San Agustín, whose works began in January.
