This work is included in the rehabilitation project of the San Agustín convent as a Business Center, whose investment amounts to 4,045,633.84 euros (VAT not included).
The redevelopment works on Puerto de Jerez street, an action that is part of the rehabilitation project of the old San Agustín convent that Zona Franca carries out in the city together with the City Council, will begin next Monday, July 21. A new advance in this initiative that confirms that the works are going at a very good pace and that will convert the building into a modern business and business services center, adapting its surroundings to this new use, as well as improving access to the city in this area.
The project to reorganize Puerto Street, with an investment of 490,157.94 euros and a completion period of 6 months, will give a new configuration to this important access to the city, and includes, among other actions, the replacement of pavements and street furniture, the renovation and expansion of urban facilities, and the elimination of architectural and urban barriers; Likewise, a roundabout will be created where an ornamental fountain, parking areas for tourist buses and medians with trees will be placed.
It is worth remembering that in a visit to the works at the beginning of last June, the State delegate in the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Jorge Ramos, already announced that the works on Puerto Street would begin in the month of July and that within the planning of the works the rehabilitation works of the building attached to the main core would also be prioritized, which will have a constructed area of 962.15 square meters and will have 13 offices, as well as the rehabilitation of the exterior building on Juan Sánchez street.
The rehabilitation of the Convent cloister is also progressing at a good pace and stonework work is already being carried out to restore the pillars, capitals and arches, after the preventive archaeological activity was completed.
The rehabilitation works of the San Agustín Convent are being carried out by the UTE Nacimiento, Infraestructura y Medioambiente SA-Vimac SA-Construcciones Francisco Manzano SL, which was awarded the tender opened by the Free Trade Zone in 2013 and to which 24 companies applied.
On January 15, the mayor of Jerez and the Special Delegate of the State in the Free Trade Zone Consortium presided over the commencement of the works, whose investment amounts to 4,045,633.84 euros (VAT not included), financed with FEDER Funds, through the Cádiz Consortium.
The creation of a business center in San Agustín represents a significant public investment aimed at generating wealth, promoting entrepreneurship and supporting SMEs in Jerez and the entire province and, due to its strategic location, contributing to giving life to the commercial center of Jerez.
The project has a double objective; On the one hand, it will enable the architectural recovery of an old convent that is in a dilapidated state, and, on the other hand, it will allow the creation of modern and functional equipment available to entrepreneurs and small self-employed people, who will have their own space to generate employment and wealth in Jerez.
