The members of the Southern European Logistics Platform, an initiative promoted by the mayor of Cádiz, Teófila Martínez, and put into operation by the Zona Franca and the town councils of Cádiz, Jerez and Algeciras and the Provincial Council of Cádiz and which have also been joined by the town councils of Chiclana and El Puerto de Santa María, have signed a framework cooperation agreement for the development of related activities at the Headquarters of the Zona Franca Consortium. with logistics and transportation in the province of Cádiz.
The agreement was ratified by the member mayors, by the president of the Provincial Council and by the delegate of the Free Trade Zone, who expressed their desire to jointly develop cooperation and collaboration actions between institutions in the fields of logistics, transport and business development such as the Province of Cádiz, Logistics Platform of Southern Europe.
All of them agreed that the Logistics Platform extends the agreement to those institutions and municipalities that wish to actively participate in the activities carried out to promote the province of Cádiz as a Logistics Platform.
The delegate of the Free Trade Zone, Jorge Ramos, explained the details and strengths of the Platform and pointed out that to reach the signing of this agreement "two years of intense work have passed", following the initiative of Teófila Martínez, and pointed out that "now the time has come to make ourselves visible and evident in international logistics."
Ramos added that “we have an important task to put the many existing resources in the province at the service of logistics, in addition to creating the brand and making ourselves known.”
The event was opened by the mayor of Cádiz and president of the Consortium, Teófila Martínez, who spoke about the work carried out, the potential of the province in terms of logistics, as well as the schedule of upcoming planned actions.
The president of the Provincial Council, José Loaiza, closed the round of interventions, although previously the mayor of Jerez, María José García Pelayo, explained the benefits and tools that the Jerez region will contribute to the Platform.
The two representatives of the recently incorporated municipalities, Chiclana and El Puerto de Santa María, Ernesto Marín and Alfonso Candón respectively, also offered their vision.
