The rehabilitation works of the convent of San Agustín de Jerez advance

The rehabilitation work of the San Agustín Convent in Jerez is progressing at a good pace and essential actions are already being carried out in the execution of the work. In this way, after the preventive archaeological activity has been completed, stonework is already being carried out to restore the pillars, capitals and arches of the Convent cloister.
On the other hand, the demolition tasks of those parts of the building that were not subject to conservation have also begun, in addition to the foundation and execution of the structure. All this having previously carried out the provisional bracing to hold the walls during the work.
The rehabilitation work of the San Agustín Convent is being carried out by the UTE Nacimiento, Infraestructura y Medioambiente SA-Vimac SA-Construcciones Francisco Manzano SL, which was awarded the tender opened by the Free Trade Zone in 2013 and to which 24 companies applied.
On January 15, the mayor of Jerez, María José García-Pelayo, and the Special State Delegate of the Free Trade Zone Consortium, Jorge Ramos, presided over the start of the works to convert the San Agustín Convent into a business and business services center, a strategic project of great importance for Jerez and the province, which is intended to support entrepreneurs and self-employed workers in the area, and which contemplates an investment of four million euros, financed with FEDER Funds, through the Cádiz Consortium.
The project has a double objective; On the one hand, it will enable the architectural recovery of an old convent that is in a ruinous state; and, on the other hand, it will allow the creation of modern and functional equipment available to entrepreneurs and small self-employed people, who will have their own space to generate employment and wealth in Jerez.
