The mayor of El Puerto knows the Free Zone proposals for the municipality

The delegate of the Free Trade Zone and the first mayor of Porto establish joint lines of work to develop different projects in the municipality

The mayor of El Puerto, Alfonso Candón, and the special delegate of the Free Trade Zone State, Jorge Ramos, held a meeting this morning in the office of the Portuense Mayor's Office, to learn about the entity's proposals in the town. Furthermore, this meeting has served as the first official contact between the first mayor and the representatives of the Free Trade Zone.
First of all, Ramos has detailed how advanced the work is on the warehouse project for a logistics operator, located in the Las Salinas industrial estate, which will house the Spelia company, which will mean “economic activity for the city and 30 jobs,” Ramos reported.

A project that the mayor understands as positive for the city "because job creation is very necessary in these times. Furthermore, the more companies that settle in our industrial estates, the more life they will have and the more activity our city will host." A visit from the first mayor is pending, which will take place when this work is inaugurated, scheduled for the month of May, although he has reference, through the project, of what this area will look like.

On the other hand, a proposal remains under study that Zona Franca already examined with the previous mayor, for the rehabilitation by this organization of the Campbell winery, located on Valdés Street, to give it commercial use. Furthermore, the viability of this space has already been discussed with a national company, which is interested, so it is a matter of the City Council, through the Urban Planning area, reporting on the suitability of this project.

The mayor, for his part, considers that "it is positive that this warehouse can be rehabilitated and put to use, because this is how the area gains, in the first place, because a considerable flow of people is generated, and therefore, the entire city."

Likewise, the mayor has agreed to send Zona Franca a list of possible projects that could be beneficial for the city, in case it might be possible to develop them in collaboration with Zona Franca.

Candón adds that "it has been a fruitful meeting, because I have been able to verify the collaboration that Jorge Ramos offers us on behalf of Zona Franca. And thus we have already established the joint line of work." For this reason, he appreciates the visit of the representatives of this entity to El Puerto.
