The archaeological activity work began three weeks ago
Zona Franca is accelerating the procedures so that the execution of the work can be carried out as quickly as possible
The appearance that the Convento San Agustín de Jerez will present after the rehabilitation that Zona Franca is carrying out can already be seen after the placement of a canvas that covers a large part of the façade and that recreates the future of the building once the execution of this important work is completed.
Zona Franca, in collaboration with the Jerez City Council, has been working for more than a year on the procedures prior to the start of the work, which took place on January 15, and in recent weeks it has accelerated the efforts to speed up the deadlines that allow the work to be carried out as quickly as possible.
In fact, the necessary archaeological activity work began three weeks ago and an inspection team from the Culture Delegation of the Government of Andalusia will visit the work tomorrow.
The intention of the Free Trade Zone is that certain areas can be released to allow the execution of work related to the work such as foundations, earthworks, etc., in parallel to the archaeological activity to expedite the work as much as possible.
The UTE Nacimiento, Infraestructura y Medioambiente SA-Vimac SA-Construcciones Francisco Manzano SL will be in charge of carrying out the work after being awarded among the 24 offers presented at the end of the year in the competition called by the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, for an amount of 4,045,633.84 euros (VAT included) financed by the Feder Funds of the European Union, and an execution period of one year.
It is worth remembering that the starting signal for the launch of the initiative to recover the old convent of San Agustín as a business center was the signing of a collaboration agreement signed at the end of September 2012 by the Undersecretary of the Treasury, Pilar Platero; the mayor of the city, María José García Pelayo; and the Special Delegate of the State in the Cádiz Free Zone Consortium, Jorge Ramos Aznar.
The creation of a business center in San Agustín represents a significant public investment aimed at generating wealth, promoting entrepreneurship and supporting SMEs in the city and throughout the province and, due to its strategic location, will contribute to giving life to the commercial center of Jerez.
The project has a double objective; On the one hand, it will enable the architectural recovery of an old convent that is in a dilapidated state, and, on the other hand, it will allow the creation of modern and functional equipment available to entrepreneurs and small self-employed people, who will have their own space to generate employment and wealth in Jerez.
The new business center will have a total area of approximately 4,500 square meters, distributed over three floors high that will have 49 offices with areas between 15 and 60 square meters. The property will also have multiple-use and shared meeting rooms with spaces intended to support entrepreneurs and companies that set up shop.
