Ramos confirms that Jerez will have approximately 250,000 square meters for the expansion of the Free Trade Zone to the city
The mayor transfers to the delegate the land proposals being worked on for its location
The Special Delegate of the Free Trade Zone of Cádiz, Jorge Ramos, and the mayor, María José García-Pelayo, held a working meeting today to outline the aspects of the implementation of the tax precinct in Jerez. The meeting was also attended by the delegate of Urban Planning and Mobility, Agustín Muñoz, and the manager of the Municipal Land Company, Fernando Núñez.
The delegate of the Free Zone, Jorge Ramos, confirmed, in a press conference after the work meeting, that next October the signing of an agreement with the City Council for the implementation of the Free Zone in the city is planned. This agreement will last from its signing until the opening of the Jerez tax precinct.
Likewise, it has announced that a joint Office will be established to implement all the steps of this project with the objective that, according to the forecasts advanced by Jorge Ramos, a preliminary study of the same can be sent to the Ministry of Finance in January 2014, in which the needs are specified.
The delegate has valued the working meeting held with the mayor very positively, since, as he explained, "the work being carried out by the City Council for the implementation of the tax precinct in the city is very advanced." Likewise, it has confirmed that Jerez will have 250,000 square meters for its installation.
For her part, the mayor, María José García-Pelayo, after congratulating Jorge Ramos for the turnaround undertaken in the Free Zone that will allow its opening to the province, explained that "the objectives sought by the City Council with the implementation in Jerez of the tax precinct dependent on the Free Zone is to bring projects to the city that boost the Jerez economy, complying with the legal procedures with transparency but also as quickly as possible."
García-Pelayo has reported that the City Council has offered the Free Trade Zone two proposals that have been chosen by Urban Planning based on technical and economic criteria. On the one hand, the Dehesa de Siles II Industrial Estate, the expansion of the PTA, and, on the other, the Jerezana, located in front of the Jerez airport.
Regarding this second industrial estate, La Jerezana, the mayor has explained that its main advantage is the cost of the land but that its main handicap is that, since the Partial Plan for the area has not yet been processed, the period to be able to have the land would be around a year and a half.
Regarding the proposal for Dehesa de Siles II, the mayor explained that, in this case, her Partial Plan has already been approved in Plenary, while she has highlighted its strategic location as it is close to the PCTA and the Aeronautical Pole, allowing the transit of goods both by road and rail, it has the Renfe, or air, stop. On this land there are two polygons and polygon number 2 would be chosen as it has the best communications.
"The land of Dehesa de Siles has the advantage that its Partial Plan has already been approved, with which the technicians would have to develop the urbanization project, being able to begin the expropriation process, which is included in the General Urban Planning Plan. An expropriation that both the City Council and the Free Zone want to do in a negotiated manner with the owners of the land," said the mayor.
The councilor added that "the project will be transferred to Adif, Carreteras and Aena with the aim of getting them involved in its development, providing it with content."
The main objective, García-Pelayo explained, is that "all the work is completed at the beginning of next year in order to have the necessary financing. During 2014 the project would be developed, which we want to become the industrial lung of the city and the surroundings of Jerez."
The delegate of the Free Trade Zone, Jorge Ramos, has stressed that “the City Council is carrying out its duties in a timely manner.” and has confirmed that Jerez “will be able to have approximately 250,000 square meters for the expansion of the Free Trade Zone in the city.” Adding that “we have had an immediate response from the mayor, who has presented us with some land that has a strategic location.”
San Agustín and El Portal
Regarding the project of the old convent of San Agustín, the delegate explained that the processing is being carried out in a timely manner according to current legislation and that it is expected to be able to start the works at the end of this year, works that already have 100 percent of their financing.
Regarding the rehabilitation of the El Portal industrial estate, the mayor has announced that the City Council will directly contribute the million euros that corresponds to the financing of the project and that the urbanization project has already been commissioned.
