The mayor, José Ignacio Landaluce, and the Government delegate in the Free Zone Consortium in Cádiz, Jorge Ramos, have visited the works being carried out for the construction of an administrative building of 8,500 square meters, on Juan Pérez Arriete Avenue, which is intended to respond to the business sector and be an engine for the generation of employment and wealth. The mayor stated that this building "will allow us to increase capacity when it comes to generating strategic places for the generation of economic activity and employment," and highlighted that "it is the result of good work and the union of efforts between the administrations, which in the end benefits the entire region and the province as a whole."
For his part, Ramos pointed out that this building fulfills a Free Zone commitment with the Algeciras City Council, although he indicated that the most important thing is to “make it clear that the political weight of a mayor like that of Algeciras and others in the province is being taken advantage of, who are making the Government and the Ministry of Finance see that the reality of Campo de Gibraltar has to be based on competitiveness and that it has to be reflected in initiatives that draw on economy".
Furthermore, elaborating on what was previously stated by the mayor, Ramos stated that this project responds to a joint and coordinated action of the administrations "not to talk about potential, but to value the reality of Campo de Gibraltar, which has to be at the head of the most competitive territories, not just in the province, but in Spain." The delegate of the Consortium stated that this action is part of a very ambitious and global project for the province, which will mean a great growth of the Free Zone, ceasing to be exclusively the fiscal precinct of Cádiz, to extend to other territories, and more so in the Bay of Algeciras where it will have three important points in Los Barrios, La Línea and Algeciras.
